Hogs don't have radios...
Exactly, and it's a damn shame.
Anyway, I don't think the whole 'Bungie Radio' thing would work in campaign at all... only suitable for multiplayer.
The campaign's atmosphere would be ruined if, following some deep and intricate story development, you get in the Hog and switch on 'Purple Haze'....just wouldn't fit in with the Halo campaign environ!!! Marty rules over all in this department and nothing in the world should change that.
Multiplayer however... well that's where I think it really would add something.
Let's face it. Campaign is where we get immersed in the role of Master Chief in his efforts to save humanity from a terrible end.
Multiplayer is a load of stupid fun....in fact....THE best stupid fun EVER.
Even having fun though people can get tense. This is one of the main reasons a Hog needs a radio. Sure....battle music will be needed to get your team (or yourself) prepped for the combat ahead, or to strike fear into the enemy. But it's also important to have music to reflect to, to contemplate the serious things in life to....music that inspires you to say "Godamnit... I'm glad I'm alive and I'm glad this Hog has a radio"
Also, with growing numbers of female Halo players, it's important 'Bungie Radio' has some 'easy listening/making-out tunes'. This way you can take a Lady Spartan out into the caves on the new Coagulation (ish) map and ...well.... get to know her better.
Finally, it's very likely the marines fitted most Hogs with custom boom-boxes etc. What self-respecting marine/combat infantry soldier would drive around inbetween battles with NO MUSIC in his wheels? Aint gonna happen.
