It seems to me that TinyURL could be used to hide bad links (i.e. lemon party or supremehack)

So should TinyURL's be outlawed on the forums???

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

You could always choose to not click on the links. Just incase. But as for the mods, that kinda sucks becuase they have to click them.

There's an option on the TinyURL site that lets you preview the link before you actually have to go to it (it takes you to a page showing the actual URL you're being taken to, and if you want to go or not).

TinyURLs are too cool to ban.

Maybe then it should be required to have that option on then?

PS-I see you already have them in your sig :/

I don't, I don't have a real use for them.

Besides, people would probally be more likely to click something that says Hey Click Here if they can see the address.....

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I don't have them. I only have one link in my sig. The rest of my sig is two quotes, one funny and one stupid.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Tiny Url is to useful in my opinion to outlaw.

Helps stay under the 500 character limit in sigs.

Skillet was here and referred to himself in the third person.

I don't think I could have the links in my sig if they weren't tinyurls...I had to have them when my sig was nothing but links...

Tinyurl is far too useful to ban. And cool, yes TGP. =P

I beleive there is a link to the options page of Tinyurl that lets you see where you're being directed in the sticky at the top of this forum (it's in the Useful Stickys bit), A Guide To A Safe B.Net User Experience. If you are worried about being redirected to bad links, enable it. I have. =)

Oh, and you should probably not write -examples- of nasty links in the title post. I didn't know about the second one, but now I do... and so might some idiot who'll use it maliciously.

its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

I suggest my ex-sticky thread regaurding safe surfing on Bungie.net called " A Guide To A Safe B.Net User Experience". It includes a link to enable TinyURL previews, a simple app in which enabled, will link you to a preview page that previews the URL you were directed to. This guide should prevent many "bad" stuff from entering your computer, and your mind.

O_O you looked at your friends balls when "he" sat on your head O_o

no need to, if you dont know the guy/girl/thing well, then tell him/her/it to type out the URL in the link. That way the sick bastard who sent u a -blam!- link doesnt get any pleasure

EDIT:i didnt know partylemon.com was blammed ;)
