I know this isn't the place nor time to suggest changes made to Reach, because bungie is no longer involved.

Yet this forum is more decent then 343i's, plus I forgot my id and password there I would like to trigger discussion and opinions, because I've been noticing some changes.

When the Beta came out I was very excited about all the new features, like armor lock, bloom, new weapons you name it.

I've been active in the community, and I've seen bungie slightly altering the gameplay, step by step. I've tried to raise my voice against it, but it was futile.

Now, after 343i's take over, I noticed (after quite a break from the game) that the maxium local players on team slayer is 2 (it was 4 before, wich was great because you could team up with your friends on 1 single xbox) and worse of all, and features such as armor lock are removed from the playlists.

The question why is irrelevant, it's because alot of nostalgia raging kiddos wanted the 'good old halo 3 feeling' back nor will this question trigger any relevant changes to the game.

I do want, however, to inform everyone reading this that one halo fan more has been disappointed, and I don't think i'm the only one of my kind. It's also to inform any bungie representatives that there are actualy a lot of people out there who think you did a great job with Reach, even from the beginning. They don't come to this forum unfortunatly to express their happiness and gratitude, no, only people who have complaints come to this forum. They complain and complain, untill changes are made, wich trigger others complaining and so on. Threads about compliments get lost in the ocean of rage and are poorly represented.

Wich brings me to my next subject, as stated above, people will mostly contact you to express their complaints. Don't let this fact ruin any of your future games bungie. Your '7th step to world domination' can not be achieved without making a few enemies, in order to be as cheesy in quotes as possible. I want you to remember, with the upcoming pieces of art you might produce, that you can't please 100% of the community. And that this community, is poorly represented on your forums.

I will not run a spelling and grammar check, because I have dyslexia, this is the best I can produce. I'm an internet troll myself, but this post was meant to be taken seriously I felt like contributing once instead of trolling the flood forums, the reason I post this on the reach forums instead of the community is quite obvious, I used reach as a demonstration subject in this message.

I hope this is usefull and will make other think, perhaps changes and innovations are needed, willst we not linger in the past forever. Who wants a halo 3 re-re-re-remasterd after a while? I don't, I want new things. Innovation is the first, but perhaps the most important step to world domination.

Hey wow, what a great post and I totally agree with you.

I am also guilty of not letting Bungie know from the very beginning how much I absolutely loved Reach just the way they made it. Now that the TU update has slammed the rumble pit I find myself confused and disillusioned as to how such a thing could have occurred. I wanted to rush to the computer and put together a montage so that I could hopefully illustrate one of the great features of the game that has been shamefully and completely removed. I happen to love using the sword and feel that it is the ultimate close quarters weapon. I also enjoyed people having a chance to melee blast me and steal the sword, makes the game more competitive don't you think? Really some of the greatest close quarters action in the game.

Your post is spot on. Sorry to see the game change so much from the one I purchased and have been playing monogamously for the past year.

I don't think Bungie needs a pick-me-up. After more than a decade of game development I think they can handle a little criticism, whether it be helpful or not.

As far as the "nostalgia raging kiddos" are concerned, it isn't the fact that they want to play a re-made Halo CE or 2, it's that they want a fun game with high competitive standards. When they notice that some of the innovation of the core game mechanics have changed over the course of the series, it's a perfectly logical response to want to revert the series back to its glory days, since innovation has ended up "casualizing" the franchise to the point that MLG is debating dropping its support for Halo (you can figure out how the competitive players feel about this).

Because it makes perfect sense right? I mean if I punched a plasma-heated sword with my fist I would obviously expect it to bounce off and do only minimal damage. No problem.

...It's almost as if I feel like my heart stops every time I see certain posts on this forum.

so far, so good.

I love REACH, and do think Bungie did a great job.

However I do hope Halo 4 is mor like Halo 3 than REACH.

REACH has some great features, and I do like some of the AA. I think if ther were to be used as Equipment like Halo 3, for Halo 4. Just make them more vital.

As they give you areas to fight over, and if you use correctly or incorrectly, can change the tide of battle.

We don't have the same effect with AA, as you can use them over and over.

I would really like to see AA as pick items is a play list. With only 1 Jet Pack to be picked up, it would be valuable to the team that had it, likewise any other AA.

I think Bungie did a great job, and look forward to their next project, whatever that may be.

I have to agree on your post to, yet I feel there was to much altering to the game and to much pleasing every single rant. Even with the new game mechanics competitive players were highly found on the game, just like all other 1st person shooters, but also RTS and RPG games, that also innovate, players adapt it has been that way for years now, otherwise we'd be still playing 1999 games, only with better graphics. I encourage game compagnies, like bungie, to come up with new ideas, they can be tested within a Beta, if people don't like it then it should be removed, but once it's in the full game I'd expect it to remain there.

I apologize for the team deathmatch thing, it's supposed to be slayer I know, I sincerely apologize for making you go trough that.

People complained because they loved Halo, and Reach changed too much from Halo 3's proven format and it ticked off alot of long time Halo fans. It's absolutely fine that some people preferred the changes in Reach from Halo 3, and to them I say enjoy, and more power. But the at the end of the day, Reach was a fail (by the numbers) for a Halo game.

I still love Bungie, they gave me Marathon (loved playing Marathon multi over LAN in the computer lab at Uni) and Halo 1,2,3 (I look forward to their new title, but why ActiBlizz??). Reach was just a large departure from the series' "rhythm" of play and it sauced a lot of long time fans. Heck, even the whole "grunts r srs naow!" pissed me off, as I loved laughing at grunts comments ("you killed my friend!" being among the best).

My point is, you can't simply say "it's because a lot of nostalgia raging kiddos wanted the 'good old halo 3 feeling'" like it's a useless reason to make changes. MS has to show people that Halo 4 will be closer to Halo 3, and that 343 is committed to providing an experience that is closer to the Halo(s) they knew and loved. If you love Reach, again, more power to you, and I'm sorry the changes bother you, but you're in the minority with regards to Halo fans (and we aren't all "kiddos").

EDIT: to be clear, I don't play Reach. Haven't played since the first week of it's release, so I can only assume the changes you're commenting on are even accurate.

Koolen, you are so right, and this is the perfect place for your post.

Reach is without a doubt the most misunderstood game in the Halo franchise. Bungie did everything they could to let people know, BEFORE release, that Reach was going to be different. They could not have possibly been more clear. Yet, the "competitive" community, who I guess either can't or won't read, is outraged that Reach is not Halo 4. The truly sad part is that 343i doesn't get it, either./[i]

Bungie had to produce two more games [i]with NO MASTER CHIEF
. That ALONE meant you weren't going to get what you were used to. The only reason ODST squeaked through relatively unscathed is because the only multiplayer was firefight. Otherwise it would have been despised as well (by the "competitive community").

MY beef is that 343i has the nads to think that they can "fix" Reach. That they can take a game that was never intended to work like the trilogy games, tweak some parameters and, voila - Halo 3.5!

How's that working out, 343i?

I'm going to write something here for the "competitive" community. It has to do with the fundamental difference between Reach and the Halo Trilogy. This may help you understand why such things as Armor Abilities and bloom are in Reach and not in the other games. This may also provide some insight into why the "competitive" community has such a hard time with Reach. I will use small words in order to facilitate comprehension.

They didn't make it easier to kill in Reach

They made it harder to die.
