I have one problem here. I can't comment on the map, because I have not played it (I don't currently have Xbox Live, and I won't have it until closer to my summer vacation, so I'ven't been keeping up on the goings-on of Reach multiplayer) but I can comment on your foolishness with a pistol.
Quite simply, I hate your type. I don't hate you as a person, but I hate the category I percieve you to be in - just as you hate the pistol because you percieve it to be in a certain category.
I hate to say it, because they're annoying, but the people who say 'adapt' are right. If you are truly good at a game like Halo, you can pick up any weapon and walk into almost any situation, and almost always walk out. I don't pretend to be extremely good, but I have the ability to use most weapons in most situations in a mostly competent fashion, and I'd say that puts me a cut above the rest - perhaps at the highest tier of mediocrity.
The thing about the pistol is that it is an extremely general purpose weapon. Yes, it does have a limited range, and yes, it isn't the most precision weapon, but the fact that you can not use the pistol in SWAT, a game you claim to be about "precision, speed, ... and range" is rather amazing.
I could sit here and criticise you more, but I don't really like doing that, and I feel I've gone into enough of a pointless tyrade. The point being, the pistol is a relatively accurate and ranged weapon - I know from experience, I oft clean the floor in Swat Magnums - and if you're unable to make it fit that niche, you're probably spamming your shots or simply not concentrating on your target. It's entirely possible that using the magnum instead of the DMR puts you into a different frame of mind - for some reason I'm better with a magnum than a DMR - in which case I think you need more practice.
tl;dr, you're doing it wrong, less QQ more pewpew.
