The right way. The only way that makes sense.
You also have to delete the space at the top.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I always quote under, never on top.

And I always take away that space that is produced when you quote. I hate it for some reason.

Quote on top is the only one that makes sense. People who quote on bottom are just copying Acky.

There's no legitimate argument for it.

I agree.

Funny, I asked this question quite some time ago.

I always post under the quote, just the way that I started posting.

I guess I'm copying Acky, right? Sounds like he started the whole under thing. I guess I'm a follower then

No, you are doing the exact opposite of Achronos.

OT: Quote on top makes more sense.

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

I quote on the bottom so that when I go to my recent posts I'll know exactly what I wrote, rather than seeing a bunch of BBcode and having no idea what I said.

Also, Bread's reasoning makes sense as well. Click reply, type out your post, click quote, then submit.

That actually is a really good argument, it actually kind of makes me want to start quoting on bottom.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

While I respect and understand the argument for replying above the quote, I do not like it. It frustrates me as every other forum I have been on works the way that they have for years, they reply below the quote so that the conversation reads top-down. The new way of quoting unique to Bungie.net is selfish. It is difficult, when just jumping into a long topic, to understand what is going on when the quote is below the reply.

I propose that, with the new newhawtness, they "fix" the quote feature so that the system can distinguish a quote from the rest of the text and, therefore, when one looks at their recent replies they would only see their replies and not the code for the quote.

I understand your argument, but I would rather ensure that my posts are simple to read in the thread itself, by placing the post's context before my reply. When multiple members are quoted (in a 'quote pyramid') it also much easier to determine the order of the posts if everyone has replied below the quote.

If the quote is placed below the post, it means that you must either skip the reply, to read the quote first, or read the reply without knowing its context. I would much rather to be able to read a post from top to bottom, as is logical.

As for Bread's argument, it does not require much effort to quote above a post. Simply quote, delete the space, type your response, then submit. In fact, the time saved from being able to read posts in a logical order almost certainly outweighs the extra time it takes to quote before replying.

If I were to click Quote right now it would go below this text;

But many people, funnily enough, put the quote at the TOP even though the quote button prepares a blank line for your reply at the TOP.

It seems people like a discussion that descends with the forum's posts. The next reply is BELOW the previous one. So putting your reply to a quote ABOVE seems to conflict with the flow of replies.

I tend to alternate between the two.
