I do it like bossman Tom, and put the quote-tags at the bottom. It's much easier to read that way.

Yeah, like this.

Quoting otherwise may seem like I'm respoding to the previous poster.

I'm not a web designer, but I do know that with any bug fix you also have to test everything to make sure everything else still works correctly. Sometimes fixing a bug for a small thing can cause bugs for bigger things.

You know what would be great? A quote button on the forum post...that way we could simply have what you're replying to quoted from the get-go...the cursor would start at the bottom of the post, and boom. I don't even care how my posts look anymore (but now that I'm bringing up that point, I should also mention that reading quote pyramids from people who quote bottom-side are much easier) I just do what's easier.

What I'm basically saying is you should blame stosh and his UI design.
Leave Stoshy alone! He's just trying his best to impress you, Achrono!

As for the topic goes, if I want to discuss to someone, I quote first, then comment about that quote or whereabout the things I need to discuss. Once I review over my message and carefully observe every error of my mistake, I silently and softly hit submit without even touching the preview button.

P.s. Where is stosh! I wanna give him my money and bagel! Lots of them!

Reading a reply to a comment without knowing its context until after you have already read the reply usually leads to reading the reply again after context has been obtained. You aren't the one who has to decipher the train of dialogue, but the next guy is. Take the extra second and hit quote first. It makes sense.

I quote and then type below it usually. In the case it happens to be below my message I probably forgot to hit quote before I typed.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

That's a false representation of the situation. The real choices are:

1. Change a piece of code that touches ALL text content going into and out of the database to fix a minor bug and hope you don't bone the entire site. Incidentally, this is also why we have no interest on revising the profanity filter... yet.
2. Mark it "won't fix" in favor of working on things that will render that particular code path completely obsolete and unused (thus essentially fixing the bug).

Keeping in mind option 2 MUST be done anyway, nobody in their right mind would think option 1 is a good call.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

In short:

"Were it so easy..."

I am interested about the profanity filter and how it "might" be removed. I think it is fine, a lot of abuse and annoying phrases get censored.
