Seems you have no opposers Hybrid...Good job.

"You have been measured, you have been weighed: And you have been found lacking."

The prophets decided who gets killed or purged into the covenant
They obviously don't like us because WE are the reclaimers as fortold by the forrunner.
We have artifacts, they don't.
And Notice how 343 never says FORRUNNER. Tis only reclaimer. If we were forrunners... he would say, "MASTERS!"

And yeah, Opey could probably win that game without using his BR. Best SMG user in Halo.

That is an awesome theory. And I bet it's true, too.

Well think about the word reclaim for a second. Reclaim - To get or attempt to get back. So it could be that we are trying to reclaim what was originaly our own technology hence the name reclaimers. Thats just my opinion though.

theres more than one definition for Reclaim.

in my opinion, the elites can activate halo just as much as the humans can

Do you really think that the Forrunner called themselves the Forrunners? That is simply what the Covenant call them... for all we know, they called themselves 'Reclaimers'...

I like your theory. However from reading Halo exerts I found out only the Prophets know the true reason behind the genocidal war against humans. I think they want to annihilate humans to protect their status in the Covenant as 1st rank. If the truth (that humans = forerunners) came out they wouldn't have as much power.

True, humans seem to have been refered to as reclaimers.

But one problem HYBRID...It's seems that the prophet of truth wanted his two partners dead and ordered the councilers' destruction. Why does he deem his race unworthy?

kurc, that's bang on. and darkblade my theory is that maybe truth didnt want to share the power.....one thing puzzles me about the prophet of regret: he seems to actually believe in the 'prophecy'

Quote: "of all the icons our lords have left us, there are nothing so worthless as these oracles. they know nothing of the great journey." [Prophet of Regret]

from his diction and given the circumstances that he was in no position to be 'acting' id say that regret and maybe mercy dont know what's goin on.

Quote: "behold- halo- its divine mercy. its radiant glow will cast everyone on the path to salvatin" [prohet of mercy]

these two heirarchs seem to really believe in the prophecy. i propose that Truth is the only one who knows ' the truth ' he doesnt speak of the prophecy with the tenacity of the others and he was quick to allow the deaths of regret and mercy. u have read between the lines on regret tho, not a lot of ppl are aware that Truth pulled the special ops elites out of the assignment to protect him and then he just lets mercy die in front of him. I think that the Prophet of Truth on his own has a secret agenda.

whew, feedback please. u guys actually seem to know wut ur talkin about

I think the forerunner created/captured the flood because they wanted to study one of its main properties... that being immortality. The forerunners had conquered everything but their own fear of death. They tried to use the flood so as to conquer that as well. It ironic how things worth out, since they all died and became flood food anyhow....

I agree, 'Truth knows the truth'.

While I may not know exactly why he called back the phantoms and ordered the destruction of the site, he seems to have no objection in eliminating the competition.

Your theory that the Prophets are acting out of fear of being punted from leadership is good, but it would only explain Thuth's actions... The other Prophets are simply acting on Faith. It appears that only Truth knows what is really going on, and whatever his agenda, it would appear as if what he is doing would be worthy of an exacution where the others to find out.

He wants to get the Elites out of the way, because they rival the Prophets and the other races 'look up to them'. He wants to get rid of the council, because they have the ability to 'judge' him. He wants to kill his two 'brothers' so that he and he alone is calling the shots... it appears... that whatever he is hiding, is as a betrail to the entire Covenant.

As far as the human thing goes... your theory and mine are both based on the 'theory' that humans are decended from the Forerunner... but they are not the same... or close... Both our theories are on how the Covenant percieve us, and how they would think of our relation to the Forerunners...

my Theory states that;

Humans are the decendets of traiters to the Forerunner
We are percieved as evil
the Covenant want to see us killed, as we are their devil (anti-forerunner)

Your Theory states that;

Humans are decendents of the Forerunner
Once the rest of the Covenant finds out, they will 'worship' us
The Prophet of Truth wants to see us all destroyed. Our meer existance proves their religion false.

Close... but not exactly the same... Personally, I could easily see the Covenant discovering our ancestiry and worshiping us at the end of Halo 3... it would be an amusing ending, and would leave Bungie with alot of material for later games and movies.

Yeah, so I looked up the word "concluded"....

MC beeing concluded does in no way state that he is correct. It simply implies that he has made up his mind.

I AM FROM SWEDEN

Due to recent cutbacks, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

I like your theory hybrid but why then, if we decended form forerunner, would 343 say 'after exausting all possable options my creators activated the rings, they and all sentient life died, as planned' if he knew we were related to them

MERCY:

Interesting...

Ya, that sums it up nicely.

I have too much free time too. But, that is a nice theory, makes sense.

Hybrid this by far the only theory I agree with 100%, every point you make I believe to be true. Bungie isn't going to do anything cray and out of this world like other theories state.

"There are things about Halo that even the Hiararchs do not understand." -Arbiter

Still, If Truth knows the truth about the Halos, then the Arbiter doesn't necessarily know about this knowledge does he?

Watching that cutscene there is another interesting thing to point out...

"GRAVEMIND (to MC): This one is machine and nerve and has its mind concluded."

"GRAVEMIND (to the Arbiter): This one is but flesh and faith, and is the more deluded."

This implies that they booth have the wrong idea wouldn't you say? Both perspectives are distorted according to Gravemind, and that makes me wonder - What does Truth really know?

Another interesting thing in this cutscene is that the monitor and Regret seem oddly hostile towards one and other, disagreeing and argueing - Yet they still want the same thing...

"Concluded" look it up the meaning of the word... >_> he's saying that the Master Chief knows his gravy, and that the Arbiter is just another Zealot...

I disagree with this.

"Has his mind concluded" means that Chief has come to his own conclusion and is sticking with it. It's like Atheists saying gods don't exist and refuses to believe it. Chief may have made his own mind up unlike the arbiter but that independence doesn't make him any more correct than the arbiter.

"Machine and nerve" also go hand in hand with logic, knowledge and science. Things that pretty much forsake faith and spirituality. Science is humanity trying to discover secrets instead of having faith in the fact that they will know "some day".

Whereas Arbiter is the opposite. "Is the more deluded" saying as if he has believed someone else's conclusion and is sticking with that (until the end of this discussion). He has never thought on his own but that still doesn't make him incorrect. We blindly believe what we are taught through education, that doesn't mean our education is a pack of lies.

"Flesh and faith" also go hand in hand with religion, belief and devotion. Things that show that you are so sure that you will know the answers through a final enlightenment "some day", that you don't want to waste your life figuring it out with science.

I think after this Helmer Ve has a very good point. I don't think either the Arbiter or Chief is correct.

I think instead of an atheist (chief) or theist (arbiter) intention. Gravemind is trying to say his agnostic in that the Halos are not as simple as "death" and "enlightenment".

He goes with Chiefs plan to stop the rings but he never once said he's right. He may be on the same side just because his intentions benefit the flood's intentions.

I haven't made my own mind up on this yet I will see when the game comes out. But I thought the idea of the Halos not being as "black and white" as we first thought was interesting.

The role of Gravemind is frequently on my mind lately. He somehow represents the essence of the Flood, an essence we know nothing about! We know about their existence, yet the reason for their existence is nothing but a thick purple haze..

When Gravemind states that he is "a monument to all your sins" I get something of a halleluja-moment, The Flood could possibly be the result of the Forerunners sins, hence they couldn't be stopped without the Forerunners killing themselves...
