I would feel weird about giving my address out if it was @bungie.com.

It would be abused, unfortunately. Otherwise, I'd be all for it.
I have to ask. How would it be abused?

Never, why would they add an email service to there site...
For one, as a substitute for the existing PM system so it's far more useful.

Is there a demand or actual need for such a service? I'd prefer that Bungie just get closer ties to social networks and our own personal email addresses (hotmail, gmail etc) before going down the @bungie.net route. After all the last thing I need is ANOTHER email address to monitor.

  • 02.21.2012 10:24 PM PDT

I suppose if given the option I would like to reserve an address, but I wouldn't exactly put it on my contact information for something like a résumé.

It would be kind of cool to have though.

It would be a more efficient system than the current PM system. It would also almost guarantee an outbox. Also, it would be extremely simple to manage with even the most simple type of webmail client.

Doctorprofessoradmiral. Vaultboy, at your service.

Yeah, that actually would be quite cool. It would fit perfectly into a new login system as well. You have my vote!

I agree

I <3 you too Bungie

I can't really see the practical purpose other than to identify with bungie. I think it would have to be more like @bungiecommunity.net or something. This has really become so cheap and/or easy that it would be a really cool concession to fans.

These generic replies continue to spread! Hide your women and hide your childern people. It's either that, or get a vaccine from your local practitioner to stop it from spreading to you, too!

I see no reason for it to be abused. Don't bring in any of this alternate account business, because the same problem occurs when you use any web-based e-mail service. By-passment of a ban, ect is not limited to @bungie.net; it occurs with all WLID's as well.

I do not think that would be a problem. I do not think that serious websites would fall victim of such problems since it is commonly known that all the business e-mails belong to the other, old domain Bungie.com, and therefore Bungie.net belongs to the community.
If you are talking about some kids getting their gamertags scammed then that already happens with Windows Live ID or even gmail and perhaps few go as far as registering their own domain to scam.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

I would get one if it was free. We need to show off our Bungie swag on the internet as well don't we?

  • 02.22.2012 5:04 AM PDT

Yeah, if it were added I sure would use one. I think it would be best if the system used your accounts username then added @bungie afterwards. Would be much fairer this way.

In all seriousness, what is in it for them? They have no reason to waste time, money, and servers to set up an email service.

Yeah... no.

How could anyone do that? You would get an email address equal to that of your username, obviously.

You're a technically savvy person so I figured I would ask you this.

As far as putting a strain on their servers (I think that's the correct term here...?), how much would giving us all (or maybe, just those who've met a specific criteria) put on Bungie.net?

I would love to have something like this, but it probably won't happen.

The strain would not be significant if the addresses were limited but even then it cost money and it has no return. They put lots of money into this site but from it they get priceless feedback and advertisement, an email domain would give them nothing.

If Bungie can't figure out how to turn a profit off of 2-3 million email addresses, then they are nowhere near the company I imagine them to be..
