Sorry Chris, but the driving AI in Halo 2 is terrible. Play New Mombasa ... ghosts boost towards you, fire a shot, fly past, turn around, repeat.

And don't get me started on the marine driving AI, that travels at about 2mph.

Like in Fear they should coop[erative and organsise attacks against you

the ai should also show personality, and be prone to morale boost or declines

this game is being designed for the XBOX 360, i have one, and on all of the games i have so far purchased, the AI has been actually... well intellingent. the opponents wil probably, retreat, show fear, courage and take advantage of situations you have created and use terrain to their own advantages. i think they might show near-human intelligence.

The Ai should show personality, like marines some are sucidal criminals and others wimps.

you get that already in some levels, some marine charge headlong, some fall back. but the new ones should be REALLY intelegent, organising ambushes and stuff like that...

I would be happy if the AI was at least as good as the AI in "Gears of War" Im sure it will be since its on the 360, but damn, I downloaded a bunch of videos from IGN, and the AI on that game are so responsive with you "2 to the left" "hey there is some ammo over here" "you go that way, Ill meet you around the corner" "hey throw a frag in there" "here, Ill cover you while you run over there" "lets run around that side, met up in the center and take him on head on!"

The AI in that game is so amazing, best Ive ever seen in a game, I really really REALLY hope the AI in H3 is that good at LEAST, I think it will be, or even better, Bungie was bragging about how amazing some of the stuff they can get the AI to do in their "new project" before they actually announced Halo 3...

I'd just be happy if I could trust an ally with a rocket launcher or fuel rod and be confident that he's not going to fire straight into the wall in front of him and wipe out half of my team...

i'd like to be able to give them some simple commands, like defend, follow, or attack. at the very least, i think you should be able to toggle their dispositions between stealthy and aggressive.

and as for personality, i think it's about time for the marines to start getting angry. i kind of get tired of the joking around. although i have seen some pretty funny stuff happen. like the time one the latino marines was talking smack to an honor gaurd elite (holding a sword), and the elite said "by all means, bring it on!" that was one of the coolest things i've seen the AI do.

I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

Hmmmmmmm this is what i love, discussing the AI.

Well, for one thing, (I've mentioned this elsewhere but I'll repeat it) If high ranking Elites are in a ghost when you stick it, they can leap from their ghost, probably with a backflip off the seat, and land happily on their feet ready to fight you. This should be a random occurance with low ranking Elites, but as the rank increases, the chances increase as well, to near certainty with Spec Ops/Zealots.

I also thought it'd be sweet if Zealots, when holding a sword, were able to keep it out when in a ghost, kind of like cavalry, and can therefore slash at groups of people surrounding the ghost at close range, and if you try and board the ghost he can knock you off, but only if he knows that you've boarded him (hint hint: Do it when he's not looking)

Flood: They're agile and so on, so I thought it would rock to see them have a decent climbing script and animation, so when youre least expecting it they can drop from the ceiling, or clamber away into the shadows.

Jackals are also quite nimble, so I thought it would be cool to have them climb trees and snipe you from up there or create ambushes. I always imagined them to climb trees a bit like a squirrel.

In terms of attacks, this is more animations than AI, but there are a couple I thought of. One is the Flood (again, you can see I like the Flood). This is a finale attack, to kill or finish off the enemy. Basically, the Flood attack form will straighten out his tentacles and force them through the chest of the enemy, then rip them out, killing them. Another was that they'd pick up small people (like Marines or grunts) by the neck and throw them around.

The other was Elites with a sword; they seemed too clumsy to me and need to be drastically speeded up (in my opinion anyway) and some new attacks are needed. One is stolen from the E3 2000 where the Elite picks up the Marine through the chest using his sword... nastiness. A couple of others were things like jump attacks, where they could cleave people in two with their sword.

The other one (sorry about the longness people!) was unarmed combat. The Elites are masters of this and we hardly get to see it. Things like turning kicks or viscious hand-offs, also the things the arbiter uses in the cut cinematic off the LE DVD. It's be sweet to see an Elite smash a Brute into the ground in the same way off that cut cinematic!

I have others but I think I will leave it at that... for now!

AI should:
--Reload behind cover if cover is there.
--Flank the enemy.
--Use formations (arrowhead, staggered, single ect.)
--Grenade positions (not just single enemys.)
--Reteat to cover when outnumbered.
--Sneak behind enemy positions.
--Crazy marines who charge at the enemy.
--When cornered marines melie enemys.

I remember I'd try to get the Marines to drive me so I could jump and do some jackie chan moves onto a shadow or apparition or whatever the covie ground transport is called, and got so annoyed because they drive like they are taking their drivers test-ie like wimps.

Yo!

hmmmmmm the ai, i dont really know. Perhaps they should cause distractions. Send in a grunt one side while 2 elites circle round the other way, or perhaps jackles could move infront of elites and grunts with their shiled and provide cover for them

Covering fire would be nice. I love the flood idears , shoot them while they scatter up
walls. It would be good to beable to give smple commands by voice control. Like
point at a window and say "Set-up sniper point" or "Arrow formation" .. "Regroup"
.. "Cover me!" oh and my personal fav. "Run into them joo noobzord marine!!!"

Carrots.

The driving AI was horrible in Halo 2! The Marines couldn't drive to save they're lives, thats why I kill them before they get into the Warthog.
