No, Bungie was the best thing to happen to Halo because it wouldn't exist without Bungie.
And what you (OP) consider to be a "crap ranking system" is a really, really flawed excuse of an argument. Nobody won't buy Reach because of its ranking system.
Not liking story, gameplay etc are more valid arguments.
And even then: Reach is by no objective means a "bad" game.
Exactly. What Bungie came up with in Reach was brilliant, it's just that it needed some tweaking (story aside, which was mediocre at best)... Which I believe the TU that 343i released did nicely.
Regardless, the original trilogy was amazing and it's sad to see people bash the developer because of one game that was slightly 'different'.
I agree.
Also: I do think 343i is the best thing to happen to Halo at this moment, just not ever.
I mean: as good as Reach was, you could notice the lack of genuine heart and soul being put in the game by Bungie. For both Bungie and Halo it was best to part ways. Now Bungie can do their thing which they're excited about, and Halo can benefit from a new developer who can breathe some fresh air into the series. Both parties win.
But that has "nothing" to do with Reach being a "dissapointment" (if I were that shortsighted, I would have been screaming for a new developer the day I finished H3...)
