Why is everyone rejecting Halo 4?

Is it because 343 is making it and not Bungie?

If so that's complete CRAP. And you should at least TRY the game before you knock it down.

I'm not rejecting it. I can't speak for everyone else. I don't think it's necessary and I think its initial purpose (in Microsoft's eyes) was to milk the franchise, but after reading Glasslands and Greg Bear's series, I realize that there is still an interesting story to be told and I'm beginning to accept the fact that the story is being continued by a group of Halo fans.

I won't lie, when I first heard about it, I was pissed, but I'm coming around. Now, understand that I am exponentially more excited for Bungie's new IP, but I like where the Halo post-war story is going. If 343 keeps to the formula and either gets rid of the new armor or explains it, I'm on board. I won't have the same expectations of a Bungie-made Halo game, but I'll most certainly give it a chance.

"At the end of this day one shall stand, one shall fall"

So, Death or Bungie?

Because there are only a couple bungie employees. We have seen nothing of this game, they are changing too much. It is unnecassary, halo 3 had a fine ending. 3 more halo games is milking it.

you say we know nothing of the game then say they are changing too much?

You clearly know abosultyly nothing of the lore if you are honestly going to say halo should have ended right there. I will start by saying you didn't play IRIS,Read the terminals or see the legendary ending. I can tell all of that from what you posted here.

You are talking to one of the biggest halo nerds at my school.

(To discuss Halo 4.)

Halo was intended to be a trilogy, Halo Combat Evolved was not predicted to be any genre changing event.

So Halo, by that logic, should have stopped at the first installment.

I agree with this comment and I support it.

@Sora2589 - 343 fans are all like "Thanks Bungie is out of the Halo franchize, they were ruin it."

When actually is thanks to Bungie that Halo is what it is and as soon 343 took control over it, they changed a lot of stuff and putting stuff out of nowhere, examples? The awful Master Chief armor, the jetpack that came of nowhere, the ridiculous gun with rocket launcher and more.

Not to mention 343 has done nothing yet, Halo Wars doesn't even count a work from 343, it was done by ensemble studios and as far as I know, supervised by Joseph Staten, not 343.

I think that most fans are bitter that Microsoft is continuing the franchise for no real reason at all, especially considering that Halo 3 was supposed to be the final game, myself included. That being said, I am still going to buy it.

Personally I feel that 343i needs to win my faith and trust, at present they have made no games whatsoever and therefore the onus is on them to win me over. Right now all I see is a terrible trailer that adds non-sensical elements to the Halo universe and looks, from an artistic perspective, both amateur and overdone at the same time.

Oh man I just can't get over how bad the Mjolnir looks. Let alone the jetpacks.

I of course trust Frankie more than I do any other member of Bungie's crew.

I've heard a lot of people say things like this, and it always confuses me. I mean, Frankie clearly has passion for the Halo universe, but he wasn't a designer on any of Bungie's games. He was a gaming journalist hired by Bungie to engage in more direct public relations with the community and gaming press. As far as I'm aware, his biggest contribution to any of Bungie's games was that he helped write some of the combat dialogue in Halo 3.

Basically this. As of this point, we have no previous products by which to judge the quality of 343's work. Although the fact that they were created by Microsoft for the sole purpose of continuing the Halo franchise without the input of the original developers, as well as their resistance to releasing any information and how they have treated criticism in some instances do concern me, I will reserve my judgment until I have played the game. I don't expect it to be bad, but I don't expect it to good either.

I think some people just take a degree of comfort from being cynical. If they expect the worst, they will never be disappointed.

I'll be more confident in 343i after we've seen some actual footage and are digesting dense information about Halo 4 before saying I'm completely on board, but I've liked what I've seen so far. It is kind of annoying that they may not have an in-universe explanation for the armor change, but I really dig their reasoning behind it from a literary, story perspective. I also like the concept art and music from the concept art trailer. I also think it's pathetic how some of you are saying that 343i is changing too much but then also say we've seen nothing. Pick one, you can't have both.

I'm pretty sure they're getting paid for this.

I really like their environment concepts, and only dislike certain parts of the armor like the thickness of John's arms under the plates, the cod bulge, and the way the back plate sticks straight up over the shoulders to an extreme extent that makes the previous iterations look sensible. Looking at it again, I've come to the conclusion that the worst part of the suit is the boots. God damn those are some ugly ass feet.
