Yes of course.
Me and a great deal of others are not fans of the title update for the following reasons.
I'll start with the way it affects the load outs.
1. Armor lock.
This load out has been criticized from the very start, far more than any of the others so I will begin by discussing it first.
TU reduces their load out by making them take damage while in armor lock. One of the biggest complaints about armor lock is that when stuck the armor locker can survive by going into armor lock. This has always been an Armor lockers privilege. They still have to remain stationary and defend themselves when they come out of armor lock which requires timing and accuracy to survive. They do not enjoy the privileges that other load outs enable so why take away from them?
2. The Jet packers
Its now open season on all Jet Packers
By increasing the firing rate everyone but especially those in the air, have less reaction time. Jet packers movement around the board is especially unique in that they are able to use more of the map. I have enjoyed playing with some great jet packers who are also highly skilled with a DMR. Their directional movement forces players to look up and greatly increases the dynamic of the game. The firing rate has increased but jet pack speed hasn't increased so they are being shot and brought down like flies.
3. Melee bleed through
The dynamic of this interaction has been greatly changed by the TU update in multiple ways. I will do my best to try and explain it as thoroughly as possible.
A player who is skilled at maneuvering the board can often avoid the majority of an opponents gunfire and get close enough to double pummel. This forces the opponent to engage close quarters with a pummel of their own and to counter the movement accordingly with gunfire, grenades, maneuvering, ect.
The bleed through means that if you are sprinting at your opponent with the intention of engaging close quarters and you get shot only a couple times one pummel with bring you down. This of course works both ways. If I shoot my opponent then run up and we both melee then we both just drop. This reduces ALL the fantastic and utterly brilliant measures that may have taken place had we both been able to survive the initial pummel and the heart thumping interactions thereafter. This was true especially for those of us who enjoyed the sprint load out and also enjoy forcing our opponents to play close quarters. The TU update discourages close quarters. For us CC lovers the fun of the game is being in your face and getting close up forcing the opponent to engage you. This type of action was extremely fun and intense requiring precision timing, accuracy and focus. Now players most often just trade a fast kill.
4. The SWORD DUEL
Sword duel has been taken away with TU update. For those of us who love the sword, and love competition, this type of close quarters action is intense. Now there is no way for my opponent to counter the sword lunge with a duel. This makes it less of an effort for me to beat my opponent, hence cutting the fun and competition in half. The sword duel interactions are some of the most heart pounding adrenaline inducing moments in the game. Taking it away removes a unique close quarters dynamic. I dislike this aspect of the TU the most and feel it must be brought back along with the rest of the defaults.
5. Finally the DMR
The biggest fans of TU seem to love this weapon. This is not to say that all DMR fans love TU. MANY do not. With TU the bloom/firing rate has increased for this weapon. I have listened to the arguments supporting this feature and am still at a loss to explain how/why they think the game improved. The thing I hear most often in support of this is that you now need to be more accurate, and that the skill curve has increased.
Myself and others totally disagree with this for multiple reasons. Firstly anyone can pick up a DMR and now shoot their opponent faster. It doesn't force anyone to be more accurate it just allows them to shoot faster. Fans of the DMR who are NOT TU supporters counter by pointing this out; People who weren't as skilled with a DMR, including myself, will now pick it up more frequently because this weapon has become a more powerful tool with the TU. This reduces competition and skill in one stroke. My DMR overall is slightly negative and I will be the first to point it out. I don't pick the DMR up often because it is a long range weapon. I am a close quarters player but even I can see that it is now easier to beat someone more skilled than me with a DMR by getting the jump on them and shooting them first. What a shame. Again this interaction is cut short and all the great measures that would have occurred in between.
In short the TU update hurts the game play by increasing the firing rate for DMR, effecting the load outs, killing close quarters with melee bleed through and removing the sword duel.
Halo Reach was more than just a FPS by providing players a depth to the game that included all load outs and all weapons plus great dynamic and changing that shows a gross misunderstanding of the games potential. Duh!!
