Subject: What if the Humans had got away on the Truth and Reconciliation?

I remember making a thread just on this a while ago that ended up being pretty popular. What do you think would have happened if the Humans had got away on the Truth and Reconciliation? They would have returned to Earth with an intact Covenant cruiser that they could study, along with flood specimens.

Although some argued it wouldn't be so simple. Some claimed the Flood could have retaken the ship, even when the UNSC on the ship controlled 3/4 of the ship. Others claimed that the ship would be mistakenly shot down by Earth's home fleet before they could hail command.

How would the war have changed?

06' Master Race.

I don't think they could have took the Truth and Reconciliation directly to Earth anyways as that would violate the Cole Protocol.

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

It could have helped at the Battle of Earth. Possibly.

-BLAM!-

it would have brought the flood to earth

IIRC Cortana played a big part in controlling the ship in First Strike, so the Marines probably wouldn't have been able to do a lot of things that happened in that book. If it had even managed to get back to Earth and communicate with its defenses, they had brought The Flood back with them.

Doesn't the Cole Protocol forbid heading straight for a Human planet after leaving a battle with The Covenant anyway?

It depends if the humans on Installation 04 would've been able to take over the ship and secure it and get away.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Humanity would have died. The only reasons they survived the first Flood attack was because Chief warned them about the Flood, the Elites helped them, and Chief was down there fighting.

I doubt they would even take it back to Earth or any other planet of significance. These big Covie ships probably have tracking devices.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Major Silva would have most likely sent out a ship wide sweep of every deck, every compartment to get the Flood out of it's hiding hole by hunter-killer teams of ODST's.

If the Chief were able to board the ship along with the other survivors, they would help, but would be clearly against Mj. Silva's decision to take the ship back to Earth, and most likely resulting in conflict between them, with Silva wanting to get back, and the the AI's, Chief and other marines wanting to get get rid of the ship or at least do a thorough sweep.

Of course, I'm not even taking into account the battle group that was above what was left of Halo, and how exactly they would rendezvous.

It would have been overrun by flood and the surviving crew forced to leave after lobbing a fury-tac nuke in for good measure.
