Play Campaign and firefight to see Vanilla.

Play MLG to see Halo.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Normal default Reach is called Vanilla.

Vanilla = Default Reach. No settings changed.

TU = Modified settings of Vanilla. Such as lower bloom and bleedthrough.

Vanilla = Old Halo Reach (100% Bloom, Sword Block, etc.)
Title Update = New Halo Reach (85% Bloom, Sword Block removed, AC & AL slightly modified, etc.)

Hope this answers your question.

Team Slayer is currently split between voting for Default Reach gametypes and TU gametypes

Default is Reach is vanilla and is what Reach was for it's for excruciating year and half.

TU Reach is a slightly better, but still not good enough, changed version that makes the DMR, Pistol, and Needle Rifle more accurate. Weakens Armor Lock and Active Camo. and lets melees do health damage before the shield is down.

Except I still don't fully understand bleedthrough no matter how much I'm told. Could somebody explain it to a retard plz?

So basically... Waypoint is pro-vanilla?

Posted by: Sentox6
Waypoint isn't pro-anything so much as they're just anti-intelligence.

And bleedthrough is when a melee attack, instead of only draining shields, takes down the player's health as well. With the old non-bleedthrough system, a melee would only take down shields no matter how little was left of it. With the overhauled bleedthrough system, two shots and a melee is enough to kill because the melee damage "bleeds through" to the player's health.

Vanilla are the original, pre-update Reach gametypes. TU is the set of new gametypes in matchmaking.

The voting is 343 judging which playlist to apply TU settings to. They did a 2-week period of voting, 1 option was the original "Vanilla" settings, and the others are the newer "TU" settings. Depending on which was more popular, 343 will implement TU, or keep Vanilla in the Team Slayer playlist.

In Vanilla, a melee will deplete shields but leave full health. No matter how much shields are left, it could be full shields or a fraction of shields left, a melee will always leave you with full health.

With bleedthrough, a melee to full shields will leave health untouched, but a melee to damaged shields will result in the damage affecting health as well and possibly killing the other player depending on the amount of shields left

Okay, I know bleedthrough now, and I can for sure say, even known I suck, TU FTW.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?
