Subject: Trailer: Why some Covenant Ships moved away from the Ark?

PLEASE CHECK MY REBUTTLES ON PAGE 3 AS MY IDEA HAS A NEW TWIST I THIINK IS RIGHT ON. You can read below but my ideas are different now and probably correct.

I was not sure where to find it but I was looking for the theories on why some Covenant ships flew towards the middle while others outside the perimeter never moved the whole movie. Also then the same ones that flew in, flew back out.

I wanted to post that I thought maybe they were opposing forces that were too late to stop it's activation and were moving out of the blast zone as a natural reaction.

I was hoping that if that were an actual Cinema from the game the next level would be to get inside via your pals that flew by Banshee to a door and deactivate it before the signal reaches it's rings if that is what it is and who knows but maybe a few rings activate and some don't. That is if they all are in sync or based on distance from signal. The last level on Halo CE never had a timer to blow up the reactors so you could take a while to shut it down unless they make a timer. Not fair, cuts down time for blastin fools.

I am trying to take this as a coming attraction almost like an animated movie poster, but still fun to talk about. You know how movie posters have the movie's elements but are made to attract you in to see the movie. Welll this short but beyond sweet video has stirred up thousand of conversations and blogs all over and not to mentions the hundreds of threads but probably thousands, Damn that's a lot of talking for a week or whatever.

Keep the thoughts going. I would be happy with a few I have heard already.

Probably just a standard formation for guarding the artifact or anything for that matter. The ones on top were just keeping watch. I mean, never put your eggs in one basket right?

Maybe they didn't wanna get owned by those big pilars coming out of the ground.

Maybe they just needed to get close enough to the Ark so they could transmitt some signal to activate it, and then they ran the hell away.

mab it was a mistake, they thought it wouldnt activate,,,,,,, OR they thought the blast radius would be significantly less.

maybe this guys right. the covenant never knew what they were dealing with. i think it is them making a crucial error because of they're ignorance, which hurts everyone else around them as well.

just looks to me as if the ship near the middle for caught in the blast radius...
stupid convie :)

The whole blast radius doesn't seem right. The truth has to include something explaining that they were 2 different forces in the scene.

Plus all those Covs came from the same direction as the MC and he wasn't running.

This was planned and everyone knew about it but those 8 Banshees and the Dropship.

Also that scene doesn't mean the Ark was even activated as to mean it was activating the Rings. It could just be a defensive measure and it was shooting into space at something.

There is no way that is only 1/3 through the game and it is the end of all life. Those ships were trying to stop it from firing at something else like maybe allies or maybe it is how Cortana and the group travel to earth to meet u with the chief and other friendlies.

Isn't it strange how one little scene can be aybe 50,000 different things.

  • 05.22.2006 7:12 AM PDT

I can see it now, the ARK uncovers something at a different location and those Banshee's and Dropship had to contain the Prophet of Truth.

The level is the MC fighting his way to the control room after a short flight on a Banshee.

It is bizaar to have a control mechanism shot it's signal one way when the rings are all over and plus that blast would take years to reach it's destination.

Also like I said before it could just be turning on and nothing else.

The Arbiter could be driving that Dropship and he is to shut it down after he is dropped off by the dropship.

Maybe they were seeing how many times they could go back and forth before the blast.

Maybe it was just a scene to show how big the Ark is.

Someone obviously knows how to use it and I am guessing it is humans inside activating it.

Mayb they didnt want to. If you look at the doors opening - the force blew one ship away.

Theyre probably thinking its a defence mechanism and to get the hell out of there

  • 05.22.2006 8:04 AM PDT

Well we can all agree the 2 big cruiser were moving out of need as if they were parked to close and felt the force of this opening. Neither fired engines till the light shows up. All the other ships including the one over the MC were in a holding pattern and if the guard the place as Truth was flying into land in the middle.

We can see whoever was in the dropship was suprised at the opening as if it were activated from another place. Maybe that activation took place remotely from Cortana or Gravemind or someone else.

It is clearly a suprise to all in the area except the MC.

I heard it may be a dream and that is true as well. I just don't think the Cortana/Gravemind overlay is real. I think it is 2 different things overlaid to make it more dramatic and confusing.

Remember it is a trailer. If it were up to me it would have includeda few more elements to make it more confusing.

... Blast Radius? It's just a rushing of air. A RUSHING OF AIR. Like when you open the door and the air on the otherside comes rushing in (or out.) It's a big freaking door. And the covie ships were backing up because if they didn't, those petals would smash them to peices.

Jeez. You all remind me of starstruck fans after leaving a concert. "I swear, he looked right at me, and we had a moment together."
You're imagining things, and then reading too much into them.

  • 05.22.2006 8:59 AM PDT

Yeah and who cares what people say or do. I just think it is all fun.

I love how the petals all look like the Forerunner ship from the side.

This is something I noticed in the reflection of the MC's mask, afterwards you can watch it again and notice it more, look at the center door open it slides open, then you can see as the panels rise the other parts in between the rising panels are also opening, looks like something big is about to come up. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet or said anything.
As for the light I don't think that is all the light in game, remember how much the trailer when MC jumped from the mac gun in H2 changed when we actually saw it. I think its more of a fade to white than(as opposed to black :) ) anything.

  • 05.22.2006 9:25 AM PDT

You are right it is a hyped up, mixing of a few things like any other trailer. It is an innovative idea for gaming trailers.

Maybe it was only a teaser trailer. <-- a kickass one at that!
Maybe we will find out when the game ships.
Maybe this speculation will continue without an answer.
Maybe, since you wont get an answer for quite some time, you should focus your minds on something more relevant?

:)

Carrots.

I think the thing needs to fire a signal, and than it will be sent to the other instilations, maybe the Covenant knew that if the signal hit them, they would die, or maybe they where getting out of the way so that they wouldn't interupt the signal.

Halo 3: Collapse
Chapter 20, Revelations, is up (update 11-14-10)
The Mirratord

Ω

Maybe they were making evasive maneuvers because otherwise those big panels would have smacked into their ships. I only saw the nearby ships moving.

why they backed off? maybe the structure was giving out large radiation waves and other strong forces, that was screwing the ships up. so they moved away so they dont lose the ability to stay in the air!?!?!?

And btw...i think that structured holds some furerunner who is like as strong as a god.

  • 05.22.2006 10:44 AM PDT

I am sure the ships were executing a plan and were suprised it was opening on it's own.

It is just plain as day. Someone got there first or remotely.
