Someone posted this on another forum I frequent.

I know you, your past, your future

I have defied gods, men, and demons
Gods being the forerunners, men being humans, and demons being the reclaimers (aliens)
I am your shield, I am your sword
This must be referring to the bible passage of
Happy are you, O Israel!
Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD,
the shield of your help,
and the sword of your triumph! De 33:29
Since Halo is based on bible terminology like covenant or arc of the covenant, they are talking about God is your shield and sword and that puts Master Chief in the position of Jesus Christ, part of the Holy Trinity of God. This says that Master Chief will die for us like Jesus did for our sins. Master Chief is our savior and Messiah. I do not know if this is foreshadowing the death of the chief and I surely hope not.
Israel is Earth and a people saved by the Lord are the people of Earth that will be saved by Master Chief. If we do ever find out what Spartan John 117’s last name is, it will most likely start with a C. Now it might be just me, but I think that that new trumpet music from the trailer has a striking resemblance to that played in The Passion.
I know you, your past, your future
This is the way the world ends…
The book of revelations talks about the end of the world and another name for it is The Apocalypse of John and the first name of Master Chief is John!"
I'm not religous, and i'm not trying to push religion on you guys here, but this theory seems very reasonable and is why I belive MC will die. If MC is our savior then he will die for us. And I think the Arbiter will die just because is he duty is to do so. The game is also religously driven on the covenant side and if this theory is correct then so is the human side. I think it is an interesting theory and having MC die would be an amazing ending. I'm not saying that it would be a good thing, but it would be cinematically smart. It would be the biggest, and best twist possible. It also wouldn't necessarily the end of all things Halo, but it would be the end of Spartan 117. Also imagine the feeling you would get in the final level of Halo 3, knowing that your racing towards your death as MC, but knowing that if you do die you will save the Galaxy. It's also somewhat reasonable because MC says, "Sir, finishing this fight." I can't imagine MC saying that and not doing anything he can to keep his word.
