i absolutley hate japanese RPG's. Nothing against anyone who is japanese, but I just can't understand your culture. They all have stupid story lines and everything is turn-based which is really boring. Not to mention the boring long cutscenes (cough Metal Gear Solid cough). Everything line of dialogue sounds like a blind folded, one handed mentally challenged chimp wrote it. Like in some games characters say really nasty things when they aren't supposed to be. Like " I handle my rod very well when it comes to fishing". Now I'm not sure whether this is just horrible dialogue, or just really perverted Japanese video game programmers. And just like in Anime shows, everyone has blue hair and has to save the world at the age of 12 or younger. I mean have you seen some of the -blam!- crap in Final Fantasy?! Like those little baby sized animal things and they're metro-blam!- male friends. And what cracks me up is these games are rated teen with characters that look like they need to be on a young childrens' tv show. Absolutely rediculous.

GT: Greg Is So Hot

I don't like anime, or japanese RPGs, although Bungie's Oni was an "anime videogame". And even though it was one of Bungie's less [...] praised games, it was still kick ass.

Wait- but it's an American anime game...

But...

then...

/me walks away

i disagree. while some franchises are just "one guy keeps meeting stonger and stonger foes but he somehow manges to beat him, with at least 15 episodes of the guy getting stronger" (Dragonball Z), there are actually a couple of good Anime related things out there. like Chrono Cross from Squaresoft, or Outlaw Star. those (at least in my opinion) are a couple of really cool Anime [things].

Konami (Time Crisis series), Capcom (Devil May Cry series), Square Enix (merger of Squaresoft and Enix) are all japanese based companies with some really good games out. however american they may seem, they have ties (however mild) to Anime. Time Crisis is an example of an almost purely american game that still has some slight Japanese/Anime "features" built in.

i think i've confused enough people...

I will say nothing of this, other than to respect other peoples' opionions. Yes, some people hate anime, but there are just as many that like it.

PS: If you write a hate speech about anime, you may find that some of the mods are fans of it- the hard way. ;-)

GASP! An error! Or is opionions an actual word?

Nope.

anime, like all genres of game/shows, has it's good and bad. I understand where all you guys are coming from that don't like it. Most of them draw too heavily on mainstream anime cliches and humor and things, but there are some out there that are good. Don't knock it all if you only seen some of it. But if it's not your thing then that is fine. I used to like every bit of it, but now i realize that a lot of those games/shows do suck, but there are really good ones out there.

This whole trend of bashing any form of anime in the media verges on blatant racism. You are not mocking a niche genre, you are in effect mocking Japan's entire cultural gamut.
By stating that an entire country's style and social tendencies 'sucks' as fact merely proves that you are completely incapable of rational thought.
Don't go spouting that "it's my opinion' bull-blam!-. It may be your opinion, but that's definately not how your message is being interpreted.

What do you hope to accomplish with this rant? You desire for Japan to change overnight, fully adopting western design tendancies? You're going to be a very sad little boy. Anime is becoming more and more widely accepted here. Get used to it.

whoops. sorry. i was asking about Star Ocean III earlier and had Square Enix on my mind. my mistake. i didn't want to mention them in the first place

also, i never said that they were american like, but more japanese like. you got it a little backwards.

Don't write a whole rant about something you hate here. People are bound to disagree, and flame wars are inevitable. Everyone has their own opinions. I could make a thread regarding about why I hate -blam!-s that prowl the forums looking for something to bash. And can't even spell properly. Just because you disagree with something, or dislike it, that doesn't mean it sucks. You are basically dissing part of Japan's culture. Next time, try keeping your hate opinions to yourself, and start a thread about something you do like.

I'm not very fond of anime because the kids at my High School that like it are the goth kids and they scare me. No offence to any goth dudes here at b.net, you guys are still cool.
