Everything you know is wrong.

Quitting ban is a little dumb. Normally, I quit if my team quits. That is usually beside a stat padding party, and I will not contribute to their stats. So I quit. It's pointless to stay and let them use me like a punching bag. Sometimes I get real idiotic teams who just do dumb -blam!-, and then it's a snowball effect quitting match for one team.

I do not like how accidental betrayals followed by a boot can earn you a quit ban. That's just outright dumb.

Let me tell you something though. I strongly believe quitting would not be as frequent as it is now if the voting system was replaced with the veto system of Halo 3. The current system really makes Reach stale. Hell, I am going to be honest and say I quit at the start because I get so -blam!- tired of playing on Hemorrhage all the damn time.

So, anyway, quitting ban is stupid, but sensible at the same time.

Just sign out of the pregame lobby. You'll get the warning, but not the ban. The fact of the matter is the quit ban was implemented poorly. Bungie should have did everything the could to reduce the reasons why players quit. That would have included a forfeit option (when half your team quits) and party restrictions.

You shouldn't quit that much. I quit occasionally, I quit when my team quits, I quit if my team is just suiciding or betraying. The only time I have been on quit probation was when I was in an angry mood and quit like 10 games in an hour. I deserved it, and so do you if you get it.

It's not even really a ban, it's probation (pretty sure it mentions this in the message). If you quit a ton of games, you'll be given a message warning you that if you quit another one, you'll have to wait 10-15(can't remember) minutes before going back in. It doesn't do it without warning you first either.

It went away within a couple days, and that was including quitting a couple games during the probation the first day.

Let's put this all in a list:
Puts people on probation who are habitual quitters
Gives a warning first
If you don't heed the warning, it puts you in 'timeout' for only 10-15 minutes
Goes away within a couple days (possibly dependent on good behaviour)

That seems like it was thought out for fairness to me.

Quit ban is a great idea and should be harsher. You kids need to stop quitting and ruining my games.

Nope it needs a proper Matchmaking system that replaces team members that have quit. That's been the problem with halo Ever since I started playing.

I wish that randoms would stay in, because they made the choice to search solo. One must commit to the match that was found. For that reason, I will stay in any game until my team is reduced to half; it is not fun for either team at that point, and nobody likes that one guy who wants to play hide and seek for fifteen minutes. This game is an example. Butcherin dashboarded in the lobby. Then, two more quit before the end of the first round. I assume the two on the other team that quit in the last round were bored of how campy the game had become. It is sad when people are afraid to play a superior team; spawn trapping randoms is fun, but the rare challenge should be embraced.

My Top 5 games of all time
1. Fallout 3
2. Super Mario 64
3. Halo CE
4. Gmod
5. Rachet and Clank

About 45% of my games someone quits and we end up losing. -_- I hate quitters.

Making people join a game that's about to be lost, on the loosing team, is not a solution, it's a cop-out. It's been a problem with CoD since it started.

If you want to be a solo player, play FFA. If you want to play a Team game, play as a Team.

Hence why you leave and then join a different game where that's not happening.

Your example is pointless.

See you are only telling half the story. While this does happen, it does not happen in a consistant basis. You may only see this a few times a day, or hour if you're really unlucky. Even so, you just leave and find a new game. 9/10 you find games that are just getting started or havent started yet anyway so who cares?

There is no way you can possibly say CoD's join in system is worse then halos. Its clearly working if you havent noticed CoD's success and halos slow downfall.

Pro tip Dashboard while in vote lobby, or do what 90% of the online community did switch to another game that doesnt ban players for quiting.
Why Reach have matchmaking for Social is beyond me, player/public matches is the way to go for all none ranked gametypes.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

That is not 'join-in-progress' fault.
It's the fault of that 1 dude who refused to quit and kept that game going for you to join it.

And even if that does happen...QUIT and search for another game! You lose out on what...just a fraction of your time
And if it keeps popping you into that match with that one loser who refuses to quit.. -blam!- about him keeping that -blam!- thing going.

With join in progress, the time it takes to get into a match will be 10x quicker that what it currently takes to fill a lobby. So you could probably search-quit-search-quit-search-quit in a lesser amount of time than it takes with the current non-join-in-progress limitation.

But lets be really honest. With a join-in-progress system. YOU WILL NEVER FIND ROOMS THAT ARE 1v4+... Because lost players get replaced... DUH!

-blam!- think this -blam!- through moron.

Really your only gripe in this context is the losers that are abusing the banshee on the other team, watching people quit. yet still persist in making playing against them not worth the time. You people know that banshee is -blam!- retarded, yet you still choose to abuse it. You witness first hand, yet do you do anything to change it.. No.

So don't blame a 'join-in-progress' feature for that scenario. Blame the -blam!- community for playing like a bunch of -blam!-s.

No really, what would you do? If you were in the banshee abusing the spawn sytem. Then you see almost the entire team quit because of it.. And as new people join in, they witness your awesomeness and immediately leave... You going to continue abusing that room with the banshee?

OK then, you have your answer for who's at fault for ruining that game.

And this is where my spill for proper custom matchmaking comes into play, which also is related to why people quit so much.
I'd love to be able to filter my search to rooms that remove the banshee from the equation.... but do we get that kind of customization in our search parameters when we go to select a playlist.. HELL NO!

RE: joining in progress

Definitely not. It's stupid in CoD, and it would be equally stupid in a Halo game. The problem with it is that unless you are lucky enough to join in the pre-game lobby, you won't get to play the game from start to finish. Also, unless you want to play the same players over and over, you risk the chance of joining another game in progress in what could be an infinite sequence.

There are other problems, but the one I listed is the most obvious.
