Subject: MLG tips

Hiyas I've just started to play in the MLG playlist. As you can see in my stats, I'm not very good. Call me a bk, scrub, casual, noob, whatever.

I'd just like some tips to improve. I'm alright with the DMR, but the strafe speed will take some getting used to.

Here you go

  • 02.23.2012 11:42 PM PDT

try going into each map against an afk guest and memorize the headhot height of the spartan at all distances/angles/etc, so you can sort of run on muscle memory while aiming. i find this technique helped me immensely.
having a general idea of where to aim before your enemy pops out is almost op.

What?

I think learning to aim would just be eaiser.

  • 02.23.2012 11:45 PM PDT

so, knowing and memorizing the headshot height of any potential enemies at just about all angles and around all corners wouldnt prove helpful though? im just sruggling to see your logic.

i think being able to have your sights on an enemy as theyre coming around the corner is good form.

So basically... Waypoint is pro-vanilla?

Waypoint isn't pro-anything so much as they're just anti-intelligence.

lol I'm terrible at MLG and I still know that this is an awful idea

Just learn to aim, the end result will be the same with a lot less work.

Lol thanks for the tip, but I can already estimate ones height, even without knowing the maps just by looking at the level of the ground around the corner.

Btw, I don't know any maps (and the ones I'm familiar with have different wep spawns). Is there some way to examine the layout of MLG maps?

  • 02.23.2012 11:50 PM PDT

I feel that this technique can be a part of learning to aim. especially for people that are not really used to playing shooters.

explain what "just learning to aim" is. everybody can learn the same skill in a different way bro.

Download the MLG maps from the fileshare 'MLG Gametypes'. After you do this, you can load them in forge to look for all of the weapon spawns, learn their spawn times, observe clusters of spawn points, etc.

Can anyone tell me how the weapons spawns work? I know that in TS weapons respawn 3 minutes after pickup, not sure if it's the same with MLG.

Happiness is a warm gun

I'm not the greatest at MLG but I can still give you some tips.

1. Learn the weapon/powerup respawn times/locations on each map. Controlling these is essential.

2. Use your mic, callout and know your roll. Tell your teamates when you are going for a powerweapon, tell your teammates if a weapon spawn is coming up.

3. Play to your strengths, and don't over extend. Are you more of a support player? Or a main slayer? Sniper or Rockets? It's good to be versatile, but at first you should probably focus on just one.

4. Team-shotting is gold, so be aware of your teammates locations and work to fill in the gaps. This is also aided by good communication.

5. Try-Hard, realize MLG playlist is not filled with tards like the majority of the other playlists, your going to have to work to win here.

6. Don't rush headlong into an objective. It's ESSENTIAL to clear the field before getting time, or grabbing a flag.

That's all for now

Thank you for those tips. I don't really like to use my mic though, especially coz I play as a random.
