Subject: Quote notifications without the notification.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

I for one think that would be a hassle. Much better to have a dedicated page for it.

It sounds like a cool idea, but I would rather have quote notifications via the PM system.

I do as well.

It could display all your posts, all the threads you have voted in, the times you have gotten quoted, groups joined, groups left, group posts (group posts only seen by your or people who are members of the same groups as you).

I'm thinking something like the @ page for twitter. Displays all your mentions etc, and people would be able to see what community involvement you're in.

I agree with most of the points you made. I'm not too sure about going as far as miniscule details like joining/leaving group activity. It sounds exactly like a activity feed - the whole general idea - which would be kind of neat; a little much, but definitely neat.

I would agree here. Privacy is something that I've been looking into for sometime and people are definitely going to request there be some settings if a page were to be created like this.

...

On a slightly relevant note, I would like to see an improvement to the "saved threads" function on bungie.net. I think it can be much more evolved that what it currently is. Instead of "Saving" threads, can't we switch this up to "Subscribing" to thread?

GAF does this, and I'm a huge fan of the system there, I feel as if it would work for bungie.net

You subscribe to a thread, and you can pick how you want to be notified. Email, text, twitter, phone, etc. If you're a bungie mobile user, have notification sent to you on there for your subscribed threads. If you have tons of subscribed threads, you can sort them into folders example picture here.

Not to mention for private groups function as well. Having a quick menu where you can easily access these threads and use the notification system that has been previously discussed.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

Notifications are a beneficial feature to the site if it was implemented. However, I'd prefer to see a tiny pop-up notification on the bottom left of the screen with the name of the thread, possibly who quoted you, and a link directly to the post. If you had no interest, you could simply click close on the notification and it would disappear.

If you wanted to view any thread which which you were quoted in - but deleted the original notification - then there should be a special section in your profile (as Dropship dude said) which has a list from most recent to oldest of all posts pertaining to users who quote yours, with the same information provided as the original notification. An example is as follows:

Date: 10/2/2012 - [thread name and link to post where you were quoted] - person who quoted you.
Date: 9/2/2012 - [thread name and link to post where you were quoted] - person who quoted you.
etc

I guess to fight off bugs and problems due to massive quote history, a user can delete which ones they no longer need (or never wanted) at will and a system will automatically delete older quotes when it reaches some arbitrary parameter (one perhaps which you might be able to adjust). Eg: after two weeks, or when you have a history of thirty posts which have quoted yours.

I wouldn't want a message system which has the information (even though my MPD would rise :) ). It'd be a pain to access every time, and the system should provide the most convenience to people who use it. That being said, Rokit's feature is perhaps the most convenient and simplistic, which still provides the best results. I wouldn't mind either way if we get notifications, or a simple quote bubble with the number of posts quoting yours next to the webmaster icon.
