Bah, probably not. Getting messaged every 30 seconds with someone complaining at you, and pointless threads directed at you. Which you lock to find another asking why it's locked.

Tedious..

  • 05.22.2006 1:27 AM PDT

i wouldnt think it would be too much fun, although sometimes when you come across a really bad thread it would be nice to be able to lock it. But its still a no for me.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

Is there a correct answer to this question?

"No, I wouldn't want to be, because the mods have it way too hard, and I couldn't take that kind of pressure." (Even if you have done things worse than that before.)

Reply- "You're just sucking up to the mods and making them seem like gods." (Replace with any insult you like about sucking up to the moderators.)

"Yeah! I would finally be able to help the community be getting rid of trolls and flamers, and lock pointless threads rather than having to contact a mod." (Regardless of whether this person is telling the truth, or if he/she would actually be a good moderator were he/she chosen.)

Reply- [Generic "wanna-be mod" comment]

Rule of thumb: If you ask people if they would like to be a moderator, at least 80% of the members will say they wouldn't, and at least 80% of them will reply that the _____ would be too much.

As to my answer...I don't really know...

Heh, I wouldn't mind. It seems the cons would be made up for by the "team spirit" the mods exhibit. Especially with regard to showing one another's mothers a good time.

Some -horrible- stuff gets through when America is sleeping, occasionally... If we're lucky TGP locks it but usually there's very few mods on...

Thats a good point, How many of the mods are from countries other that the US?

  • 05.22.2006 5:28 AM PDT

I don't think any of us actually deserve to be mods.
Hell, are any more mods even needed?

Goweb and I, unless you count Canadians as out of the US. But in terms of timezones, just us two.

Speaking of which, I can't remember if there are any Canadians in our ranks. :/

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

I used to want to be a mod, but then I came to my senses. They have to put up with too much crap. I like being a "normal" member of the main forums.

You mean to tell me that this shrine I have right beside me for them is completely useless? Way to break my religion.

Would I wanna be a mod?

Yes because no one would get mad at me for telling them there wrong.

No for every other reason.

I like to Rollick

No way, I don't like everyone analyzing and reading my words, I have to be careful to whom I make fun of, Couldn't speculate because then everyone would think that I know what bungie is doing, Have to have a dictionary handy everytime I post, Have to be careful with who I blacklist...but if they needed someone then whatever I would do it, but then posting would be work for me, but if the community needs it then I would give it up.They have enough already. They should keep the mods they have, they got enough, and it's a solid group.

To be a part of a game developer i love soo much, sure i would want to be one if i was given the chance. Not like its remotely possible for me but i would still love it.

Is it really being part of Bungie?
I think it's more like taking out the trash.

its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

Yeah, I think I would be a great mod...

Skillet was here and referred to himself in the third person.

Pros: Respect (however little it is)

Cons: Constant harrassement, people hating you when you blacklist them even when they know they broke the rules and...the Halo 3 Forum!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!

I think everybody has had dreams of being a B.net mod so they could press that nice not-so-shiny button and unleash the ninjas on that spammer's ass...but I am one of htose that realizes this is most likely not going to happen and I'm happy moderating my own group...and any other groups that I'm allowed to moderate.

So...did I get it right TGP? Or any other mods out there?

(10:19:49 PM) Scruss: oh and pezza, i saw what you did to that cat
(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

I think the mods are cool, i wouldn't mine being one. I already spend most of my time in front of my computer, heck it wouldn't make a difference on how much time i spend online.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

I don't think I would want to be a mod. Although one reason is the fact that I don't think I would like the work, the main reason is that I don't like obligations. Even though I come here almost every day, sometimes I just decide not to show up, or I just don't feel like interacting for a while. If I was a mod, I would feel bad about it. This way, I can do whatever I want, with no worries.

Hah! Tear that one apart, why don't you?

Not fussed. I've got my cool avatar so I'm happy... but then I'd save a bunch of time pressing "lock" myself rather than getting Jim or Toast to do it.
