Ok, in the game we are told that the forerunners built the halos in order to contain the flood. And that the halo is a weapon to kill all life in which the flood could survive off of. The Arc is built on earth, which means it had to be placed there by the forerunners. Here it goes, what if we were the forerunners and when the arc activates it kills everything and time starts all over again. Thus, we evolve again and the covenant are formed again and we meet in the future and have war again...forever repeating the cycle. This isint the first time that humans have created the SPARTAN program because 343 Spark knew MC as reclaimer, thus must have had encounters with something like him before. Part of MC training was to never leave an AI in enemy hands, the mission comes first, and to always conceal the location of earth. Well, in the end of Halo 2 he left Cortana there on the ship and followed the Prophet to earth. And in the Halo 3 trailer Cortana tells him, "I know you, your past, your future" or so everyone thinks...but could she have said "I know you, your past your future" meaning that he was suppost to die and by him leaving he has put a hole in the rift of the cycle? For the cycle to work cheif was suppost to follow orders and not leave Cortana there, and because he did he has lived past his time and now has altered everything that is suppost to happen. Also a theory, Halo was activated in Halo 2 and yet Keys' daughter, Johnson, and the Arbitor were left alive...how? When the halos are activated they kill everything outside of them...not on them. If the covenant activate the Arc it will kill everything outside of earth and everything on earth will be left alive just like on the ring. Also, the AI's were created by ONI which is something that very few people know about...and the AI's are almost Omnisicent and know something is going to happen before it does. Not so much of see the future but can calculate everyhting at once and come up with an answer that is the most logical.

Something to ponder on, Halo kills everything outside the rings. MC was suppost to stay with Cortana and should have died. 343 Spark lived through the Halo exploding in Halo 1 and had an encounter with something like cheif before. And finally if cortana is somewhat omnisicent then she knew if chief lived then he would break the cycle...just something to ponder. Let me know what you think about this. I know I have a few holes here and there but Im working on those...

em well a couple of things the halo wasnt activated they stoped it, and they are suposed to kill everything on them aswell.

the time loop idea while possible - some sort of time distortion is present in the halo books - seems a bit too complex to explain in one game properly probly near the end. Bungie wont want another matrix 2 fiasco with people going what the fck at the end of it. im not saying its not possible i had considered something similar although on slightly different lines.

i had thought that it was possible that before the halo activation the forerunners had seeded other planets namely earth possible the covenent ones to (though that does not tie in with established facts about reclaimers and such) and that over time humans aka forerunners reevolved not necesarilly from scratch thtd take far too long but just to sentients.

if you think about it forerunners not wanting to kill thier species introduced a less evolved sub sentient life form onto a world so thier race could survive and prosper eventualy reclaiming thier lost heritage. possibly they were suposed to be guided in this reclimation and maybe they were in a unobviouse sort of way to minimise the chances of it goin wrong - a light touch a gentle manipulation.

what if all human religion and discovery were a gental direction and preperation for becoming "forerunners" the covenent ruined this millenia long plan in thier misguided religion.

i know that not all the ideas in this are original but i like to think i add my own twist to the story.

p.s by the way if anythings unclear ask i wrote this in a hurry and i usually write badly in a hurry.

Er... Halo wasn't activated. It charged up, and then Miranda Keyes removed the Index, so it stopped. Remember 343 talking about an 'unexpected shutdown'?

I think this may be of interest.

Then I guess the chief should borrow Doc's DeLorean and go back in time and save Cortana.

Cortana WANTED to stay there, in case something went wrong. So she left MC. As with AIs being omniscentic or what you said, no, they are not. They use sensors and information allready gotten about what they are to calculate. It's i like you go to that merchant that has given you 10% of everytime you buy something from him, when you see him and he smiles you know he will give you 10% of. How could you possibly know that another person won't or will give you 10%? Maybe the origianl merchant said so. Maybe not, you don't know until you gain that knowledge and then you can use it to make an assumption on what's going to happen

the closest to omniscentics a AI could get to would be to calculate the most likely chance of something happening and even then theyd need an obscene amount of information to draw on and processing power to use it with any sort of speed, anyway i digres i was wondering if any one had any other interesting opinions
