This happens to me all the time. I shoot someone and kill them then they boot me. But when they kill me 10,000 times I don't get to boot them! It is so freaking annoying. I hope they fix this in Halo 4. Answer the poll please!

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Of course, but they won't.

I'm watching you.

And how do you suggest they go about "fixing" it? There's no way for the system to tell whether or not a betrayal was intentional or not. The best it can do is make an assumption based off of how often a player betrays. If you're getting booted off a single betrayal then maybe you need to be more careful around teammates.

There are MANY ways they could fix it. For example, it could look at if any enemies were nearby. If no enemies were nearby and no enemies were shooting and your team mate then killed you with a DMR, it should give you the boot option. Not necessarily with the rocket launcher though as he could have accidentaly fired and so on. It could evaluate tons of stuff. There are MANY WAYS TO TELL IF IT WAS INTENTIONAL OR NOT AND BUNGEI CHOSE TO MAKE IT DUMB AS HELL AND GET BOOT FOR NO REASON.

And what if I were sniping from far away and someone walked out in front of me? There are near infinite situations and scenarios to think about. How do you expect a program to take into consideration all of them? In the end, it all boils down to the individual player's intentions and since the game can't read the player's mind it is impossible to know for certain.

? Since it's impossible to know for certain, it shouldn't bother making an estimate of if the betrayal was intentional or not? Is that what you're saying?

Since it's impossible to know for certain, it has to find a way of punishing offenders without punishing those who do it on accident. That's where the Karma system comes into play. The more frequently you betray people, the easier it is to get booted. The opposite is true as well. If you rarely betray anyone because of an accident you're not going to get booted, but if you're trying to ruin the game by being a jerk or you're being careless around teammates you're going to get booted. Simple

It's funny because although your stance on this issue is the right one, you aren't as eloquent and don't have as much patience as your opponent, so you lost.

A simple fix would be if a person betrays twice, on the second betrayal and every one after that, the person who was betrayed gets the option to boot.

Player 1:
Betrayal 1 -> Player 3
Betrayal 2 -> Player 2 [Boot?] (if P2 says no, then)
Betrayal 3 -> Player 6 [Boot?] (and so on)

343i aren't gonna change it but...

I haven't ever really had a problem with this, I don't betray and I rarely get an accidental. Having said that, I do know people who do get them because of the way they play e.g: Grenade spam or power weapon fighters. It seems to me to be the low levels who boot because they don't fully understand how easy it is to do it because they haven't had much chance to find out for themselves.

If someone bots you then just join another game, other than that, I would say just take extra care if you know you re prone to it, because it probably ain't gonna get fixed.

Animator, 3D modeller, Artist.

team killing is ridiculous. A betrayel early in the match (I.E. 15 seconds into a match) should auto boot option. too many people kill each other over the sniper gun, and then the person that usually kills you is so atrociously bad at it that they basically give it to the enemy. this is why reach released with a 1 betrayal 1 boot system. and then people whined about it to get it changed.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

I think that the only way to fix it is make it one strike and then boot. Even if it was purely accidental, it's the only way to ensure that deliberate team killing will never happen.
