Call me a cynic, but if they've gotten much past the Trailler for Halo 3, I'd be surprised. I'm sure they've thrown around some ideas, and possibly even drawn a few things up.... but that would probably even surprise me. Face it... they're "Next Project" was the Halo 3 TRAILER. They were all sitting around banging around a few ideas about how to get the Halo 3 Marketing Machine going at full steam. I GOT IT: Let's make a completely vague, boring trailer, and hope the fanboy's start trying to dissect it.

But, that's just my opinion... and I expect to get the George Bush kick to the balls for speaking out against something that I've been disappointed with... so I brought my cup.

Didn't they say that they started making Halo 3 right after Halo 2 was released? If so, there must have been some other, even bigger supertrailer out there that I haven't seen, because I don't thing that it takes that long to make a two-and-a-half minute trailer.

I definitely think the story line has been laid out and Bungie's working on the coding of the game. Even if H3 comes out in the summer of 2007, that's barely over a year. Which is not long for a game the size of H3 that will have an enormous multiplayer component.

I also agree that the trailer was boring Vince.

Damn snipers!!!

I have now read the books...

your stupid makes my brain sad

there is a playable version with mc that bungie has.......according to GI mag

I don't know what they've finished, but what they've shown is utterly worthless. It's boring and there is NO HIDDEN MEANING lurking just beneath the surface for all you Halo History detectives to discover.

Maybe the vagueness of the trailer was to allow the Halo community to brainstorm ideas for the padding around the scene, ie, the rest of the game.

Bungie has obviously got writer's block.

The closest thing to aplayable version that I've heard or read about is a controllable camera in the same environment that was shown in the trailer.

I was really dissapointed by the trailer and by Bungie's lack of information on Halo 3....

We've only got their word that it's not just another pre-rendered showreel rather then the actual in game graphics and I gave up on Bungie's word a long time ago.

I think a Christmas 2007 launch, and that'll probably be rushing it.

Bungie - don't make the same mistake twice! Make sure the game is absolutely perfect before releasing it! Don't give us another Halo 2!

Or maybe you guys think the trailer was boring was because it was just to announce Halo 3 and is not an actually trailer? The could have just said, "We're making Halo 3." Wouldn't that have been a little more boring?

  • 05.22.2006 8:41 AM PDT

Let's go Rangers!

They've been working on Halo 3 since the completion of Halo 2.

Read the Weekly Updates. They talk about doing extensive testing on certain aspects of gameplay, graphics, etc.

They also said that an ATV was going to be in Halo 2. And it took them 4 years to make Halo 2... soooo, even if they've been working non-stop for a year, you can't expect much yet.

I'm not the only one who thinks this. Check out gamepro's Top Ten biggest disappointments at E3.

No, it's so we get to read 12 months of H3 update minutia. Little tiny vague morsels of game information to drive us all slowly over the edge of insanity.

That would have been boring as well. I think the letdown comes with the fact that the majority of us thought H3 would be here sooner than who knows when in 2007.

So no game footage = letdown = boring.

Didn't seem so boring when Bill Gates said it (repeatedly).

Yes. That would have been slightly more boring... but not by much.

Damn it, my psychiatry costs are bankrupting me already.

This is just one huge publicity campaign now, with a vast majority of the community hanging on tenderhooks, feeding their madness with every morsel that falls from Bungie's plate.

I have news for you.

The food is not only non-nutritous, its full of cholesterol.

Whoa - don't mention this in that speculation thread with 8 thousand replies!

The could have just said, "We're making Halo 3." Wouldn't that have been a little more boring?

Well, you can't win really. You could have posted a painting and you'd still have 8 thousand speculations about it. The key is that the 8 thousand speculations make it seem like it was intended for more than it was. Bottom line: I blame the fans. FIX YOUR FANS BUNGIE!

"Your destruction is the will of the gods, and we are their instruments."

If they have indeed been making the game for 1,5 years now, then i think that they have got to have some sort of playable version done already.

I agree with Bunny... It was more interesting wondering if Bill was just shooting off at the mouth, or if Halo was truly going to be released, than watching this trailer.

Halo 3: Collapse
Chapter 20, Revelations, is up (update 11-14-10)
The Mirratord

Ω

I'd say that the main code work is done (weapon handling, etc), and that making the 14-square-mile maps is going to be the most time-consuming part.

...
what does George Bush have to do with this topic?
