We all think that the human's next enemies are the Forerunners, right? But what will the story be like? Will you be able to customize your character or will you play as the Cheif? Give me your thoughts and any other rumors or ideas that you have.

"Just like old times..."

Apparently, and take this with a grain of salt, but I heard from someone on an imageboard claiming to work for 343 that Halo 4 will incorporate elements of forge, in a way that Cortana allows you to build and synthesize weapons and vehicles critical to your mission as you progress though the Forerunner planet.

This is also supported by the fact that half the Dawn crashes with the chief, leaving very little in the way of human weaponry lying about.

It's an interesting concept, but there are already other threads on here that have gone into intricate detail concerning possible theories for the next story arc. As far as "rumors" go, there's my word of mouth.

Shut up and give me the food.

After looking at Halo 4 Concept Art I assume that you will, in fact, play as Chief in the Campaign. Of course; since Combat Evolved, everything else besides Campaign you will play as your customized Spartan.

Another thing I believe what happens next is that the Forge will be entirely innovated and more focused, such as advanced controls and manipulations, or maybe customized weapons, vehicles, and other objects will be available for purchase.

I think that Multiplayer will remain close to Reach's though more advancements involved. I hope 343 does not end up adding Call of Duty features to the multiplayer/matchmaking. It will crumble the Halo series.

It's generally accepted that humanity's next enemy is the Precursors.

We should know better, because we are better.

Where are you getting this Chief vs. Forerunner vibe from? Precursors are the big bad here.

Weren't the Forerunners peaceful or did they develop some sort of vendetta against humans for being so violent?

I hope 4 is similar to Reach in a lot of ways: armor customization for campaign and online play, graphical detail i.e. the fading colour on the armor, beautiful cutscenes, incredible dialogue and voice acting, and an emotional story. I know the customization would be awkward for the story because Chief's been on FUD for the past x number of years, but I fell in love with it because of Reach. And hell, they already took away his codpiece so I guess all bets are off. ;)

I've been preaching this for awhile, but despite all the hate, I'm starting to feel that Bungie peaked with Reach (see: everything I mentioned above). I saw so many great things in it and I feel it was cut cut far too short.

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

Perhaps like a Crysis 2 like modification system? I didn't play much of it, but it seemed to me like it was a concept that would fit well in campaign at least, switching out various attachments as needed, though obviously moderated a bit, as to not be like COD.

In my mind, I could see Halo 4 having a Battlefield 3-like system of attachment tiers, like so:

Top Rail Attachment
Smart linked Scope/Enhanced Magnification
Ammo Counter

Barrel Attachment
Extended/Shortened barrel
Under-barrel Munitions
Bi/Tripod

Miscellaneous Attachments
Suppressor/Muzzle Brake
Flashlight
Alternate Size Magazines
Perhaps Ammunition types as well (AP, 'Shredder', etc).

Of course, all of those would only be in Campaign, and these are just ideas taken from various novels and other parts of the Universe, and I'm not saying that it should have it, in fact I like the 'clean' nature of Halo, where it is just your skill with a weapon, and not the attachments that make you successful using it.
