Sounds cool but it could probably be simpler.
Instead of having a camera man function why not just have a player who can turn their HUD off.
Or, even better, just allow spectators and then record from that.

I am...whimsical today.

Would be a good Skull to find. Or maybe an unlockable feature.

Yeah, that would work too... I guess it depends how in-depth Bungie wants to go with the video thing. *cough*timeconstraints*cough*

GAMER

Well they made it possible and fun in Halo 2 (and it took people a while to notice how in depth Bungie went with it,) so anything beyond what there is in Halo 2 is an improvement.

What would really be neat is a 'spectator' mode. You could join in another game, but be invisible and just watch what is going on. You could either run around, no HUD, or cycle through tracking cameras as you do when you are dead.

There would probably be ways to do it where it would not affect the quality of gameplay at all even with hundreds of people observing.

i like the spectator mode. i hope they have it next game.

it wouldnt add lag or anything as long as your not on the map running around.

there should be camera views around the map that let you see like a security camera does. and you arn't allowed to talk to players.

you could then watch good players and how they play.

(you could watch level 50's and see how they "earned" their level)

Seeing how many people want to make movies off of Halo, I do kind'a think a movie maker would be cool for those with the filming intellect.
Hell, I think I'd want to try an' film my own. ^.^

If you don't got it, you want it. If you got it, you want more of it. Of course if you don't know what it is, it's hard to get any in the first place.

Previous Bungie games such as Marathon and Myth:TFL used a nifty feature called Films.

The game recorded your play session, and at the end of the level you were given the option of saving it to be viewed later. It was a great feature, but it's only downside was that the films were only viewable in the game.

Basically, instead of having to hook up a camera to record everything, it did it all for you.

Now with Bungie being owned by microsoft, I see the 360's media center capabilities really have a chance to shine.

Imagine saving a film, and exporting it to your PC desktop as a WMV file.

This is a must for Halo 3. But the only thing they really need to do is add one gametype called "Filming" that allows you to select which will be cameramen and allow them to do shots from across, above, and around the map. Use the D-pad to turn off the hud and lower your weapons. (So you don't have to worry about picking them up in the middle of a shot).

A Guide to Networking, Matchmaking, and Host in Halo (HBO mirror)

Bungie Friends and Family invitee, and sender of "random emails" about networking.

If there was a way Bungie could use this to enable the debug camera, it'd be fantastic. For those that don't know, the debug camera is disconnected from the player, HUDless, and can be moved to anywhere on the map.

There's a lot of things besides filmmaking this debug/spectator/camera mode could accomplish.

1) It would improve the general level of play strategy; I know I watch peoples' montages and vids to see how they play, and would definately want to spectate on live games for the same reason.

2) Pro/Tournament LAN play piped live over the internet. Small fee for the game channel to hook to...and dare I suggest, *wagering* via the 360 game controller? What would a piece of that be worth, MLG? Could even have a play-by-play announcer.

3) More, and less biased eyes watching for CHEATERS.

4) Nice tool for clan and pro recruiters.

5) Players could opt to have a willing spectator's box be host. Think about that for a minute. It might solve the whole issue of dedicated servers vs player host machines. Would you pay a fee to have a neutral host from some farm of XBoxes in spectator mode so all your games would have no host advantage and were guaranteed an adequate connection? I would in a second.

6) Also: a neutral non-playing host could adjust ping to all players so everyone has the same amount of lag. It would just delay 'closer' people to match the delay from the most 'distant' player. It could adjust it dynamically as network conditions change.

7) A neutral non-playing host could detect and lag people out the instant they exhibited cheating behavior without affecting remaining players one iota.

that 'movie making mode' is kinda growing on me. i like that idea. i think it would be wicked in a shooter. if you could record the game, and go back and 'tape' the game at chosen locations and environments- moving the camera around as you would in, say, the madden games. make your own combat footage short film.

"You have been measured, you have been weighed: And you have been found lacking."

Or:

Have the option to have Full Blind Mode in Multiplayer...

Blind Skull in Multiplayer for the ball holder.

Unless you are of course refering to Microsofts Spectator Mode

how about a feature that lets you take videos withou a capture card and the 360 will send it to ur computer, that would be cool, but for movie making mode we should just use the oddball glitch
