So why is it a bad thing?
It's a bad thing because it's done by teams of 8+ in BTB so they can play 15 minute kill cap less slayer to boost commendations and K/D. Boosting that takes advantage of a known issue which is against LIVE terms of service and agreement due to it being technically cheating. Also due to Halo being Microsoft's favorite frenachise to milk the crap out of Microsoft doesn't do anything to stop it by banning them so it gets worse. So yea lose faith in legit gaming because it's dead due to greed.

It's not against the terms and service agreement. It's a perfectly legal use of a flawed system put in place by Bungie. Don't blame the stat padders blame Bungie.

~ Videogames are my favorite videogames ~

Play in playlist that racks up the kills quick, grab weapon that kills easily, go up against opponents that easily die, drag it out as long as you possibly can, then go online and brag to friends or strangers who don't know better about your much higher, though abnormal stats. Repeat as needed.

Swat/Grifball/Infection often falls under this.

You must confront your inabilities
You must adjust to your capabilities

Just played a game where this happened and the other team was a party of 7, and took control of everything, like both banshees. The only thing I could do was quit. Why would somebody stay in a game with a full team against say 3 people, and why are these guys trying so hard to stat pad off 3 people? The answer is halo is full of tryhards.
