personally i think all live games should be 32 players now, considering were in the "next-gen" and everything
Im sure they can im just not sure that they should i think 32 would be a better number. Maybe even stay with only 16 id rather see quality over quantity. Of course i guess they could make it 50 and then have more playlists like ultramegateam battle and so on so that those that like a giant battle can have one and those of us that like a smaller game can have that as well but im guessing if they do have upwards of 16 players that they would probably need to start using dedicated servers since in halo2 even quite a bit of the 16 player games get pretty frantic and lag a bit.

(not in a good way)
Yeah that would be sweet. especially not being able to move throught the game then having your flag dissapre then reapper in thur base with you still not being able to move. mabey if i made my model be an elite with higher jump i could jump out of the map and avoid the lag then i could use the rocket powered jetpack to steal the flag. also it would be fun to be super mega hunter and kill everybody with the super mega lazer unlocked with the ar that master cheif carries around in the trailer[Edited on 5/24/2006]
you're naut cookin'
I'd love to see some big battles. But organised big battles, the sort of thing you can expect from... I dunno, America's Army dumbed down.Something that slightly resembles the book. With an aim, missionstatement type gameplay option. That doesnt consist of "hold the hill" or "keep the oddball"...or "kill everyone"
Posted by: Zkelapersonally i think all live games should be 32 players now, considering were in the "next-gen" and everythingThere is nothing next-gen about it. They had a game that I and many enjoyed Call Black Hawk Down that went up to 32 online. They pulled it off on the original Xbox.
If you want the game to be like Halo 2, why don't you just play Halo 2?
Maybe not that big, but at least a 15-15 teams match up, computer games do it, so I don't see why you couldn't do though the systems, aren't they all using the same internet?
Posted by: djfhgjadyfygCool but there would be to much lagThat's entirely not true. You just need a good host, and that problem is EASY to solve. All you have to do is have matchmaking setup so that it requires atleast one person to have sufficient bandwidth (the host) to be determined before other players/parties can get matched up.If your party doesn't have anyone with sufficient bandwidth to host a 50 person game, then it puts you in line to join an existing match already being put together that already has found such a person. The other thing Bungie could do is setup dedicated servers SPECIFICALLY for a 50+ player playlist. I play Battlefield 2 for PC with 64 players on a map ALL THE TIME and there is never any lag and rarely any significant latency. That's 64 players mind you. It's totally an option on the table.
"I pledge to punch all switches, to never shoot where I could use grenades, to admit the existence of no level except Total Carnage, to never use caps lock as my "run" key, and to never, ever, leave a single BoB alive." 2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?
Yea, as the lag in Halo 2 is bad enough coped with cheaters...but if there is a way to do it, I am all for it.
Posted by: ki11j0iPosted by: djfhgjadyfygCool but there would be to much lagI agree. I mean big team battle is lag central these days. But yes it would be really cool. Big team battle is lag central because people are forcing ("bridging") host rather than letting matchmaking determine who the optimal host should be. Of course you are going to get lag when you have someone forcing host to someone else on their team with a KMart internet connection. There absolutely no reason that 64 player matches aren't entirely feasible (on an xbox 360) as long as matchmaking does a good job of only allowing people with qualifying connections to host the game.Lag is almost always caused by someone hosting who shouldn't be. And most of the time that is caused by someone manipulating network data in order to force host to a certain person. If they can fix that type of cheating in Halo 3, the sky is the limit.
