Dear Bunie:

I am very impressed on how well your banhammer is going. I was thinking of not getting XBox LIVE because of all the cheating. Also, the emails (pleads of inocence) the cheaters have sent represent their self-absorbed attitudes well.

Anybody want to explain to me exactly what standby-boosting and bridging are? Not that I at all want to do it, but I would like to know what they are since they are such big deals in cheating today.

Modding allows people to basiclly change the game of halo. They can run fast, jump high, and kill in one hit. Standbying causes you to go into blue screen but they do not (or for less time then you) so they can kill your motionless body, bridging allows people to cause you to lag and they don't lag so they can kill you easier (or for hardcore bridgers they can lag you out of the game), and boosting is when you create two parties with similar levels, with the winner already determined.

There is still way too many cheaters on Halo2! I actually stopped playing for awhile. Nothing has changed. There are times we end up playing a group of cheaters 3 games straight.! i wish it was instant banning.

anyway, continue the good work. good luck.

hopefully Bungie will do something to stop it from happening on HALO3

I guessed you missed the point Frankie was getting at....that bridging is bad no matter what spin you put on it.

Does one have a guilty conscience?

I am very happy bungie is banning people for cheating, whatever flavor that is. I just don't know if I am happy making fun of these people based on their spelling... I mean, say what you want about the -blam!- because he cheats, but consider they might not be english speakers. I am sometimes tired of american people not knowing there is a world out there and they too play H2... and sadly, some cheat. Or yeah, they might be illiterate americans, thats not funny either... But never mind me, I guess that kind of reasoning is beyond any possible expectation... or maybe I'm in a weird mood...

every time i get cheated on or modded (=(!), i just send friend requests saying "BANNED. Have a nice day" to every person who was in a party with the modder/standbyer..

usually gets them scared for a while, (some ppl even reply back haha, hilarious) until bungie comes along to inflict the real terror.. hehe.

dont worry they always cancel ur friend request, and sending the request is the only way you can send a msg to them.

try it.

oh, and this was the best update except for the halo3 one. most of the others werent special ;).. but hey, u've pleased Me.. thats crazy

ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! screw you cheaters!!!!!!!!!!!!! you always talk all this crap when you cheat and i really love to see you whine aboout how i didnt do this and i didnt do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha!!!!!!!!!!! you know what? cheaters ruin games for everyone, they ruin it for the people they cheat on and themselves. because after a month or so of cheating, their gonna get tired of cheating and getting banned constantly, that they'll quit "playing", and go back to watching friends naked in a beanbag eating mac and cheese and chatting with their only friends on my space!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blarg! I don't know how bnet's bbcode works!! Posted by: TropicHuRRicane
oh, and another question, why dont you add a section based soly on modding? Kinda like XBC. That way, they can show-off there mods and no one will have to worry boutz ranks or anything. Besides, If you can mod on that, why cant you mod on live? Both are represented by microsoft am i right?
I don't think XBC, from the looks of their site, is affiliated with microsoft. Microsoft wants you to pay. That's what XBL is for!
Modding your xbox, I think, is frowned upon and/or illegal in the eyes of Microsoft. I don't think that they'd let a company they own put up a division of Halo 2 Live service for modding. I don't exactly know this, but I do know the politics of big corporations. They don't like it when you fiddle with their stuff, and they want your money.

Ok Guys i know this is prolly gonna sound kinda noobish but what is bridging...i know what modding and standbying is and i report the fools who do it. but i need to know what bridging is so that i can start reporting those "asshats" as well.

How you live is up to you...but how you die is up to me.

Giggity Giggity Goo

oh man, thanks for the good laugh Bungie. That "Damn Stolers, goin' around stolein' everything" line almost made me cry, because it was written so damn beautifully, and was freaking hilarious. The one about the guy "striking out" because he couldn't spell "banned*********" was really funny too. I should start recording my matches onto my computer again when I'm playing Halo 2, because I used to run into modders/standbyers/bridgers all the time. I could probably help to double your efforts in catching these pathetic excuses for gamers and banning their sorry asses. ^_^

Oh man that was hilarious. Especially the last one. If only I had a StandbySense that allowed me to snipe people to dust right before they cheated!

LOL. Awh it does a halo player good to read how truly pathetic the lingo of a the average cheater is. I wonder if anybody has ever been playing a stanbyer where the standbyer accidentally lags himself out and the rest of the team can't keep there massive lead for the victory. LOL it brings tears of joy to my face. But seriously, you all do need dedicated servers though. Not suggesting much but it would kinda solve EVERY type of cheating out there.

Boosting by like playing with a couple level 1's isnt cheat is it? cause i often play with people with new accounts and at all diff skill levels, i dont really worrry about their numbers. As long as its legit game right?

I also want to commend Bungie on the Banning, but yea theres lots of cheaters that get by, why dont you ban not just the accounts that were doing the modding but also the accounts that were getting modded up to a high number??? For instance a 12 month user will get a 2 month and use the 2 month he doesnt care about to mod up the 12 month then the 2 month gets banned but the 12 month GamerTag still has the really high level. That way it would be completely pointless to mod. Or do you already do that?

I didnt know bridging was a bannable offense, but now I do. I know people who have, Im not gunna play with them anymore if it means my 12 month can get banned. Bridging does prevent alotta cheating tho, you should consider allowing it as long as its a great host. I guess theres no real way to do that though so I defintely agree with ur decision.

To Bungie:
It's awesome that you guys still want to help the Halo 2 community when you are still working on the next Halo project, but why can't you guys try to shut down some of the major hack sites that promote modding in Halo 2?
