I would like to thank Bungie for doing their best to keep the cheaters out. This is what makes XboxLive the BEST!

Great update one of the best I've ever seen. Although I'm not really sure how your banning people whom bridge. Obviously people who soft mod are allot easyer to spot. Your not going to get 40 kills 0 deaths and 5 killtaculars in a slayer game. And those who standby are easily spotted as they have to hit standby many many times a game in order to actually use it to their advantage. However how are you catching bridgers? Did you actually hire someone to go through all the game data and look for someone who say gets host EVERY game they play and randomly people in the game get disconnected from the host? Because if you do I would love a job! Also are you banning people who bridge for host just to get a legit game? I myself haven't done this, I'm too poor to afford the setup but I actually don't consider this a form of cheating. Infact It's a foolproof way on how to NOT get cheated.

Lmao ermmm he does have a point btw

And ye i think moddin is ok to a certain degree until it is plain retarded. i think if things like warthog skins (some very skillfully made ones) and other vehicle skins are getting people banned , its a pointless reason for banning them , regardless that it is breaching the integrity of xbox live.

I think we should up the age requirement for Xbox live. I'm sick of the little tykes thinking they're the Sh**.

Who's with me?

GREAT post!

But i LOVE reading the cheating forums, they are alot better.
Seeing dozens of post of people who are banned by xbox live (generally temp ban due to feedback) and dozens more of being banned from halo2 matchmaking.
They are alot less "nice" in their posts cussing out bungie.

I got a question to bungie though, where are the emails of "i only standbyed vs a modder" or "i only IP banned the modder!"
I know there must be some of those because of all the "legit" bridgers those who "bridge" for host and "bridge out" modders.

edit: you CAN mod the skins on maps (all maps) and get on live, and NOT get banned. Because the skin is stored in the cache and bungie can only 2 main folders, not your xbox temp files :)
But it IS cheating, i have modded the flag once so it was this BRIGHT glowing pink, then every matchmaking game on hardcore (warlock) i could see the flag very easily.

Modding rocks but NOT on live, it is illegal!
Mod on system link and splitscreen :)

I'm curious, I haven't played halo 2 on live in well over a year, so what do the terms "standbying" and "brigding"

I have one question about playing with cheaters. If this is in the wrong topic then I apologize, but if we get cheaters placed on our team through matchmaking what should we do about it? Quit? Play on and hope you dont get reported as well. I am really just ignorant on the issue so any help would be great.

You only get banned if you get the same cheater on your team xx number of times within a few weeks/months.
So if you get a random cheating on your team during matchmaking you can be a GOOD nice person and kill yourself over and over and the other team should ALL hide.
You can just quit.....
If you are just the person who wants to play and are a jerk you play and help the cheaters win, which is really stupid.

I have had cheaters on my team 4 times EVER!
twice with modding, once the modders lost because the other team all hid like SMART people.
Another time the modder won, i had over -60! And the other team would not hide!
With "bridging" i was killing myself (around -10) and i was IP banned myself :<
And with bridging again i was killing myself but the other team all quit! Event hough i was like -3..

I understand skepticism, but basing graphical opinions on what was essentially a wide network performance data-mining test disguised as a game is silly.

Bungie.net Overlord Achronos on Graphics.

Can This be made into a regular feature? It really makes you feel superior when you compare yourself to these people who can manage to make arguing so badly seem like the can't help but speak/spell that badly.

"bridging" comes from the windows XP term, "network bridge" your computer is a the middle man between your xbox and the internet, so using a firewall you can block IPs (other people's connections" So if you are host you can do many things.....
A bridged connection is 100% fine, it is when you cheat that you get banned. I have had a bridged connection longer than i had xbox live (i had it for my modded xbox)

and standbying is just hitting a standby button your modem that causes your net to freeze, if you are host you can still kill people while they just sit there walking into walls.

oh, and another question, why dont you add a section based soly on modding? Kinda like XBC. That way, they can show-off there mods and no one will have to worry boutz ranks or anything. Besides, If you can mod on that, why cant you mod on live? Both are represented by microsoft am i right?
I don't think XBC, from the looks of their site, is affiliated with microsoft. Microsoft wants you to pay. That's what XBL is for!
Modding your xbox, I think, is frowned upon and/or illegal in the eyes of Microsoft. I don't think that they'd let a company they own put up a division of Halo 2 Live service for modding. I don't exactly know this, but I do know the politics of big corporations. They don't like it when you fiddle with their stuff, and they want your money.

XBC is just a huge HUB, there are no "servers" for gaming. Its just a gaint chat room and it tunnels your "network" into one with the people in your game.
So its very cheap for XBC to run it.
Xbox live is way different, it has servers and everything that connects with it.

cheating on xbc is there now, at first there was none, but it is growing.
People mod maps to see through walls and such :< Its lame.
THe good news is you can EASILY boot them from the game.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

I laught at these emails just like I laugh at them! How can somebody steal your account from your XBOX like come on give us a break!

Damn, Bungie, for once I'm on your side. I don't know what's more aggravating, all the bridging, standby-ing, modding or the atrocious abuse of grammar that said cheaters attempt to use to appeal their bans. Ban away, please! I'll live vicariously through you every time I come across a cheater and just imagine that person getting banned. Thanks for looking out for legit players.
