Subject: A pinned thread for site update ideas.

Oh hey there

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Because of the lack of game information recently the site has become more focused on the community and the site itself so I thought I would make a suggestion that would help further this cause. It has been brought up before but like I said new focus on the site and improvements so I thought now would be a good time to discuss it.

Yesterday I posted a thread that I thought contained a great idea for an addition to the website. However it wasn't the usual "controversial" kind of update that gets a lot of response, such as "like buttons" or things like that, so it got a few responses and slowly drifted to the recesses of the forum.

Achronos and the web team often say that they do notice suggestions for improvements to the site, however I think that is made more difficult because ideas that don't generate a lot of discussion but are good ideas usually don't stay around long enough to be noticed.

A particular thread for these types of suggestions would be a great way to deal with this problem and would cut down on repeat idea threads being posted.

Edit: Apparently there have been several iterations of this over the years. Spawn having created the most recent one.

This isn't a bad idea at all. Also, the OP (whomever it may be) updating it with ideas that are in circulation would also be INCREDIBLE.

Sadly true in many cases. A pinned thread isn't a flawless idea but it's better than nothing. Basically what I mean is that there would be a ton of responses to sieve through to find the shiny new ideas for improvement. A devoted OP would be needed too, if they wanted to keep all ideas listed.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Sure; from time to time over the years, Achronos or other Web Team members have actually done this before. Hopefully they'll see fit to do it again, because those threads are not only useful, but interesting to read as well.

We also have a thread (although buried someone deep in the pages of this forum) that outlines a bunch of our ideas already. It would also help cut down the clutter of ideas we see pop up day-to-day. No?

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

I think it's better to have different threads for different suggestions. Most ideas require lots and lots of discussion before we actually end up somewhat agreeing about it.

Though a thread that's updated with links to and quotes about different suggestions would be cool.

I'd be willing to put the work in, that would be required in updating the thread. It's just a matter of finding old threads containing the ideas and various quotes.

I suppose this could all be done through PM.

Something like:
Addition of a "Like Button" to posts and threads.
Thread 1
Thread 2
Interesting quote.
Private Group additions.

And so on.

Yes that is exactly what I'm talking about. But just given a more prominent position in the forum so it will be utilized more efficiently.

I agree with Qbix, it is nice to have individual threads for each ideas, but it would still be nice to have sort of like a directory with a list of all the ideas, and link to other thread if they exist.

That's the problem I have with Spawns thread. (not that its not great Spawn) Needs more links to various threads discussing the individual issues. Like the example I gave, that would require a lot more work though and help from the community.

I think spawns thread would be perfect if it was updated and more links were added.

This.

I like the idea, hope it comes around.

The Save Thread feature probably. Something I'd suggest a few updates for in such a proposed pinned thread the OP had in mind.

  • 02.28.2012 2:03 PM PDT

I said this a long time ago, but everyone said it was dumb. Probably because it wasn't the usual "controversial" kind of update that gets a lot of response, such as "like buttons" or things like that.

Yeah, this has happened before. I'd like to see it again, personally.

I would like it. Over the years I like to look back and see how this site has changed. I would love a thread devoted to that.

Great idea! This would be a very effective way to receive feedback for Bungie.net.

When I think about it, they could just implement a Bungie.net feedback forum. It could work much like the optimatch forums used to work.
