The point of this is to stop the plague of selfish people quitting at the beginning of matches because they don't like the map or gametype that was voted on, and then searching again. The quitter ban is weak, and the system tolerates this sore loser behavior. A playlist ban would fix it.

some maps and gametypes are so offensive and atrocious to good players they'd never stand for that crap. Quitting is the only solution.

Selfish you say? who gives a damn! Get over it! If you don't like having quitters on your team either suck it up or get a damn team of your own. This is after all retarded reach. No wonder ppl quit in it all the time. a bad game will obviously bad players, bad maps, and bad gametypes.

I suggest you gain some skill my child and when you do all will be revealed to you in time and your error of your ways will be understood. Games like Halo 3 didn't have as many quitters because it actually mattered if you lost or not. In lolreach losing doesn't matter. Making players sit out a match or playlist will only make them go and play a better game..

The teammates you left behind to finish a match where they're outnumbered give a damn. Quitting is a selfish act whenever it impacts others, and denying your actions have consequences for other gamers is sociopathic. And don't tell me to "get some skill" when you haven't even played Reach, lol.

The braindead righteous quitters seem to think this is a bad idea. I think that means it's a very good idea.

No consequences in video games, they are video games ... If someone is butthurt in real life about virtual worlds where people left them in a video game, people they don't even know in real life they need to get over it and grow up.

Also lol at thinking because on this account Ive never played reach that i've never ever ever played reach. a derp colonel of Halo 3 would think this haha. As I said before get some some skill. Don't hurt yourself too much trying for that easy 45 ... oh wait you probably raged quit in Halo 3 to play easy Reach to feel good about yourself. Don't lie, you know it's true and so do many other good players here as well.

Eh? I barely played Halo 3, most of the H3 activity on my account is my brother's. And when I did play, I derped around in social and Action Sack and I rarely quit. Anyway, Halo 3 and skill has nothing to do with anything in this thread.

The consequence of quitting is you're ruining the fun of everyone else left in the match. Video games are supposed to be fun, and quitters make them less fun, so there should be less quitting. I don't know what's to difficult to understand.

It's not the player's responsibility to make the game 'fun' for others though. That is the developers of the game's job to do. If they can't make the game fun in different situations it's not going to fall on the shoulders of players. I know I surely don't care if someone quits on my team or not. It's just a game. I either quit myself and find another match or just move on.

I never quit out of matches during the game because I am on constant quit probation from signing out of the lobby before the game starts. I sign out of more games than I play. LOL
Quit picking dumb gametypes and I will quit signing out.

It's everyone's responsibility in all facets of life, digital or real, game or serious, to not be a dick to others. But some people don't care about the way their actions affect others, so they feel free to act like dicks as long as there are no consequences. That's why this is a proposal for the developers to adopt this temporary time out, to stop the dickish behavior of habitual quitters from ruining the fun of the other players.
And surely you do care if people on your team quit if it makes you quit yourself. Why did you quit? The quitters ruined your game. I think you understand exactly what I'm saying.

I don't care so much about it to make a big deal about it. I quit and move on. nothing more.

It's ridiculous, look at this game I played http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/GameStats.aspx?gameid=94827 4573&player=aKa%20Baby%20Jesus.

Everyone on my team left and in my last couple of games someone has quit out either on my team or the opponents.

Ouch. Anyone who thinks quitting isn't a problem needs to have their head examined.

"Set a man on fire he will be warm for the rest of his life"

The quitban in general is stupid.

If you want to curb bans then just affect XP.

I will gladly affect being penalized for not playing some asinine map or gametype /or playing with fratboy trollmates the point is back in H3 or in any other games you get a penalty of past points which was fine.

And it reduced quitting.

Just checked my recent stats... 30 quitters in my last 15 games. Ouch.

It's a great idea.

I firmly believe that quitting both in general and in particular the of type you described is so rampant because of the lack of real consequences.

A penalty system that locks players temporarily out of matchmaking for a significant amount of time or that goes against the incentive system (credit based penalty) would go a long way in reducing quitting. If players were banned and/or lost credits equal to their completion bonus, players would not quit as often.

The rampant level of casual or petty quitting is what reduces the quality of the game more than anything else.

I'd be a happy spartan if the only quitters I had to deal with were people who were sore losers or lagging out.

People that quit repeatedly are quitters in life.
