~ it's kill or be killed ~
play nice y have fun

I have in possession and have read most Halo novels. I haven't read the last three recent ones though. I recently got Helljumpers, Uprising, and more importantly: Cryptum and Glasslands. I don't have Primordium yet, but that doesn't really matter yet as I still need to read Cryptum and Glasslands. Although, my question is::
Which one should I read first?? Are there things in one book that would best be known before I read the other?? Is any of the fiction related??

I would prefer people who have read both books to answer this! Thanks!

Cryptum

Neither

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I think Glasslands offers more to the Halo genre, but I know that I am in the minority in this opinion.

Glasslands is an infinitely better book (the only installment worth opening since Contact Harvest), but neither of them are very good.

Cryptum has more interesting background than Glasslands, ultimately.

Cryptum.

As always, read them in order of release. Cryptum, Glasslands, Primordium.

Cryptum.

For obvious reasons.

Ad Infinitum

FYI, you're going to find that A LOT of people hate Glasslands on this forum. Don't let them influence your choices. Read both when you can, and gain perspective.

Both have their ups and downs. Both books are good for different reasons. Read both, when you can.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Read [Gl]asslands first so your expectations of Halo literature is massively lowered, then read Cryptum and you'll love it even more.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I'd read Glasslands first, order Primordium, then move on to Cryptum and then Primordium straight after.

Really? I'm not saying you're wrong, but the Forerunner Trilogy is essentially a whole new universe being attached to the main Halo story, [Gl]asslands is a continuation of an already established story.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

I have yet to read Glasslands, I'll get to it this summer, but Cryptum was fantastic.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

Cryptum all teh way

You can read either one first, it doesn't really matter. The only requirement for Glasslands is Ghosts of Onyx. The Forerunner books are fairly self containted.

We should know better, because we are better.

Glasslands has better righting in some cases but Cryptum offers more interesting information and backstory.
