Won't it be so cool if you could fly a Pelican. I mean imagine flying over a couple Elites in Ghosts whale a Covnent dropship shoots at you. Then you order your Marines out and then start shooting the Covnent dropship. Then you receive orders to go pick up some Marines that are retreating. You arrive and pick them up whale ownning the remaning Covnent with your 30. Cal. mechinegun and then fly to the orbiting ship.

It is sweet, I love doing it. But, the controls need to be tweaked a bit.

eeeeeagle

Yup this would be ace, in multiplayer too: first person in is pilot, second is co pilot (incase pilot gets killed) third is gunner on back and the others are passangers.
Also pelican varients would be nice, like extra troop space with enclosed area, one with clamps to transport vehicles, one with rockets etc.

welll.. maybe in multiplayer... but then you need very big maps... in the story line, i really don't see the use.
for me getting on a pelican is a moment of peace or a movie part and i like that about the pelicans. so it wouldnt bother me if you could but i don't care

Yeah I've always thought the same thing. Transport vehicles with it would be sweet too, but as said above, you would need a huge map. Containment could barely even take something like that. Perhaps in 3 phantom will be accessible as well. There are three turrents to man on that thing. To get crazy with it you could even have drop pods for the troops just like they use in the game. Far fetched I know but just an idea.

This can be discussed in Halo 3 Vehicle Ideas linked in the "threads of interest" sticky at the top of this forum.

It don´t has to be a Pelican, but a flying thing created by humans should be in.
Maybe this strike fighter (?) that bombed the big gun in the E3 2003 trailer!

Flying anything human would be awsome, flying the Pelican over enemy territory, a full load of marines in the back, hit the ground.... Would be sweet, even better on Xbox Live.

I dunno... for Single Player it might be cool... but it might be kinda big for Multi... but then again this'll be on 360 so maps could be huge.

It was a Longsword, and I don't think its maneuverable enough for Halo, unless you had massive maps
Anyway, I've always said that their should be pelicans, but they really wouldn't fit very well in Campaign

it would be really sweet on multiplayer with huge maps, you could be dropping off your whole team at the enemy base or go to their base and steal all their vehicles

I had action replay on my xbox 1 that DIDNT HAVE XBOX LIVE. Its a little memory card that you plug to your PC then you save on the card, copy it on your xbox then play. I have a downloaded profile that when you resume your campaign you pop up on the New Mombassas bridge with 50 marines with shotguns and 100 elites with swords, you start as MC with the marines and its like a big LoTR battle lol

i think it would be even cooler if when the pelican lands and the cargo hold in the back where the humans go that when u go into it to ride with some more people u should stay in first person then when i landed the door would open and u could just walk out with out any changing of game play

Having a Pelican in matchmaking will only work if both of the following conditions are met.

1) Ample sized maps. Containment probably wouldn't be big enough. But judging by some of the maps on Perfect Suck Zero I'm pretty sure the concept of large maps is in play for Halo 3.

2) 64+ player matches. It would be completely rediculous in 8 on 8 to be able to transport your entire team to the enemy base in the air.

Listen, all you need to do is go play BATTLEFIELD 2 for PC (not the lame Xbox 360 version) and you'll see what I mean. It has 64+ player matches on huge maps with TONS of simultaneous land, sea, and air vehicles INCLUDING a Blackhawk helicopter than can carry up to 6 players. You can fly your squad over or behind enemy territory and parachute out.

It would hardly be revolutionary if Halo 3 did any of this. Battlefield 2 is so far ahead of console online gaming its not even funny, and the game came a year ago. Everyone at Bungie should go play Battlefield 2 for PC and then have a meeting to discuss. Not that Halo 3 should be anything but another Halo game, but there are some lessons to be learned. Much like pretty much every single other Xbox developer still has TONS to learn from Halo 2...that they still somehow haven't bothered to learn.

lol

I remember playing HALO CE [Custom Edition] and people had Pelicans in thier maps.. the handling wasn't very nice and it was a pain to fly.. way to big and it just looked stupid because the camera needed to be soo far out to capture the whole thing.

I wouldnt like it personally, say what you think.. even though it wasnt created by bungie but by fans, who are like semi-pro map creators and who obviously presented the pelican in the best way possible, i really didnt like flying the thing.

All adding a pelican will do is make Bungie have to design more levels...
