I am interested in what kind of mice you people use for gaming (first person shooters in particular) .

At the moment i have a trust ami250s optical.
I think it is 400 cpi but it could also be lower.
I am doing well , but i would not mind doing better and since i need an extra mouse i might as well buy a nice one.
But i am still doing some background research before i decide.

Since i am a "lefty" i am thinking of a logitech g1(mx510 wearing a different coat).

A razer copperhead or diamondback has come to mind but i do find these mice a little overprized.

I am curious if there is a real world difference between a G1 from logitech or a diamondback form razer or the copperhead for that matter.

I would like to hear about the experiences you may have with you mouses.

Thank you in advance.

400 dpi is very low. I have a g7 that is 2000dpi. I would have never paid $100 for a mouse, I won it at a lan.

kensington optical wireless. it is a good mouse, but for some reason Halo PC exaggerates it's movements while other games simply don't. just set it to sensitivity 1 and get used to it, its a good deal for $20 or less.

Logitech G7 - 2000 dpi max

I got it set to 1600 - 1000 - 750 - 400

Cost me €70 - $90, it's worth every single one of them!

no its definately not worth that much. I have the same mouse but I got it for free, otherwise I'd never have payed that. Its good, but doesnt make you a better player or anything, just more comfortable and a little more sensitive.

From experiance DO NOT get a wireless mouse no matter how cool they look. the worst thing that has happened to me was i ran out of batteries in the middle of a match. i was running all over our house looking for an extra pair of AAAs that i could squeeze a couple more minutes of juice out of. no matter what though, wireless is NOT the way to go for gaming.

yepp, the KEIO brands are awesome (and might i add that the new models are so cool looking, lol), but then theyre not good for gaming as i have said earlier. i got mine for $17.95. =)

btw, robo leader, do you use a kensington too? if you do, we can be KEIO buddies!!! xD

I don't get it--what is this dpi stuff and what does it mean?
I simply use the dell mouse that came with my computer (with the ball inside), and I think it works perfectly. How much better can a $100 mouse feel or work?

a $100 mouse is very sensitive and alot more accurate. I got mine for free, so I'd never have payed $100, but I definately do notice a difference over cheaper mice. Ok also, you should get a new mouse. The ones with balls inside are ancient. You can get a basica optical for like $10 now which i guarentee is 100x better than your current one. Anyway back to the G7, aka the $100 mouse. The G7 is up to 2000 dpi, not sure what dpi stands for exactly, but it is basically how sensitive the sensor is. It can sense very very small movements making it alot more accurate. When gaming it seems alot smoother and stuff. If you play games 24/7 and have no life then go for it. I had a $40 wireless mouse/keyboard combo by GE and it worked fine, but then I got the G7 and its nice.

I don't know what mine is, but its logitech, but still no matter if its a very old mouse, if your good you can own anyone in a match.

microsoft optical mouse.

Me two. I would get a laser, rechargable cordless mouse thing. That way it recharges when you aren't using it. Works don't it? I dont like the cords because they make me angry.

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

Computer: Power Mac G5 CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (2.2) Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB Memory: 1.25 GB Bus Speed: 900 MHz

ATi Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition
Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1680 x 1050 Depth: 32-bit Color

I use this: http://us.kensington.com/html/2200.html

My aim with it is adequate. It's great for driving. I actually have a mouse connected to my computer for guests who are not used to a trackball. I've thought about a gaming mouse for use with weapons and keep the trackball for driving. I just don't have a good mouseing area at my desk.

Maybe when I build my new keyboard drawer.

I used to agree with all the people saying that wireless is crap. I was almost leader of the crusade against wireless UNTIL... I got my hands on the G7. The 2.5 GHz wireless signal is lagless, no discussion about that (if you want to compare: a USB bus only operates at 500 MHz).

It comes with two batteries and a charge unit. While you are playing on one battery, the other one is charging up. There is a battery indicator on the mouse and it gives you an on-screen warning when the battery level is getting low, so the next time you have a spare 10 seconds (no longer than that), you swap the batteries and off you go again.

Yes, it is a lot of money and some people will find it over the top, but I don't.

btw: dpi means "dots per inch" and it indicates the preciseness of the sensor (how many dots the sensor can read per inch)

Microsoft Optical Wireless mouse. I know that it may run out of batteries in a match but I get up to 6 MONTHS of battery life out of it! And I can check the battery life on my PC in seconds. I used to have a mouse with the ball inside but once I got this baby I owned!!

Im used an unknown mouse that cost £3.50 odd, and I still manage to beat most people. On the EU bungie servers mind, not on my own lagless server or such.

I recently bought a £30 plus logitech high DPI one, and cant see any difference really.

What a waste.

But how do you 'nade properly?

I'm using a bog-standard Dell optical wired mouse, and am doing just fine with it. Hate wireless ones. Keep draining WAY too fast for me to like.
