i have a one button apple mouse.

don't even know what it's called, but it was the one in the box.

i haven't got around to buying a fancy mac gaming mouse with more than one button yet.

But how do you 'nade properly?

I'm using a bog-standard Dell optical wired mouse, and am doing just fine with it. Hate wireless ones. Keep draining WAY too fast for me to like.

I nade with my right pinky on the numeric keypad and I mouse, (trackball, actually), with my left hand.

kensington optical wireless. it is a good mouse, but for some reason Halo PC exaggerates it's movements while other games simply don't. just set it to sensitivity 1 and get used to it, its a good deal for $20 or less.

a lot of people complain about the same thing, but the answer is really simple.

under your mouse settings, you probably have pointer acceleration turned on.
Halo PC runs at 800x600 so your mouse is even more exaggerated from that alone, but along with the acceleration, it will be really sensitive based on the speed that you move your mouse
