I never got into tricking in Halo 2 when it came out, probably because I wasn't that much into gaming in general back then. I began with Halo 3 and I'm pretty sure I've done almost every known trick in that game, but I feel like I missed something amazing after watching some Halo 2 tricking videos.

For those who like tricking in Halo 2, is tricking in Halo 2 more fun than in Halo 3?

I've hardly ever done any Halo 3 tricks/glitches. I felt they weren't worth the time they took. So, I usually just did the minor stuff you could do in forge. However, In Halo 2, I've done countless glitches. All that were much more fun.

I dislike when people come to a specific game's forum to create a poll comparing if you liked tricking on it or another game more. You're obviously going to get a bias result so why even bother?

That being said, I do prefer tricking on Halo 2. Super Jumps were the greatest Halo glitch to ever exist. Trufax

Just because this is Halo 2 forum it doesn't necessarily mean people here prefer Halo 2. I posted this here because there isn't any general Halo forum in Bungie.net.

I never learned how to super jump. I got it right couple times but never "mastered" it.

Tricking in Halo 3 just isn't phenomenal enough.

Compare the 60 Councilors army to the 25 Hornet army.

Now I'm sure you'll be saying the Hornets are better or can't simply decide. But the Councilors are much more bad-ass imo.

When I first went in with an army of Hornets, I thought it was going to be an epic battle. Only the initial charge (all the Hornets move towards the third tower) and destruction of the Phantom turned out to be amazing. After that, they sucked against AA Wraiths and never even bothered with the third tower enemies.

Whereas when I led armies of 60 Councilors, they all jumped like crazy, berserked all at once, and all drew swords. It was really bad-ass. It was only when they fought against Tartarus that they died (because of the stupid death barrier being placed so close to the lower platform and cheap damage sponge boss).

But there is one thing in H3 that I consider unprecedented. This. There's also these:

-AI armies
-next step of cutscene manipulation, active AI battle
-Flood army

But by no means does all this mean I actually enjoyed doing these. Setting them up was unbearable. Only the result was enjoyable although still lacking in quality. Of course, I can't go back and make them better or more convenient because of the checkpoint system, with the exception of the cutscene one.

Things that I consider big fails on Bungie's part in H2, H3, and Reach (the plagues of Halo):

-checkpoint system: it's only good when playing as intended. Exploration and tricking is inconvenienced by lack of cps. Likewise, AI battles are also ruined by cps, ones that are gained from killing enemy participants or just come out for no apparent reason. In H3, there were too many cps at times, too close and not spread out enough to be actually useful.

Although H3 did have checkpoint hotspots (like how you can get them on Halo and Silent Cartographer), you had to be away for a longer amount of time to get the cp. Afaik, they only exist on The Storm and The Covenant.

-AI: friendly AI one shotting player after betrayal (H3, Reach), stupid drivers (H3, Reach), slow (Reach), incapable of meleeing, no longer follow or stay back with the player, unkillable (H3, Reach)

-scripting: Guilty Spark battle, LNoS. Self explanatory. Didn't get in the way in H2 as much as it did in the later Halo games

-confinement: death barriers (H3), 10 second countdowns (Reach)

TLDR: I hate H3. H2 is more tolerable. H1 is my favorite Halo.

You can use glitches to do tricks. The glitch would be super jumping it's self, but super jumping to a certain spot would be the trick. Same with doing a chain bounce.

Actually yes, it does. Most of the people who frequent this forum like Halo 2 more than the other Halos. It doesn't take much brain power to figure that seeing as though this is the "Halo 2 Forum". It's like going to the Halo PC forum and asking if you preferred PC gaming or console gaming. Obvious bias would be obvious and it is here as well.

Note that my opinion on this isn't really bias either seeing as though I stated that I love tricking on Halo 2 more than I do on Halo 3.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Halo 2 glitching/tricking/exploration is far superior (whether you consider that a good thing or a bad thing).

In scope and concept yes. In accessibility, not always.

Some setups take months. Some setups are inconvenienced by lack of checkpoints meaning one has to start all over again if he should mess up. Also, there's hardware limitations as the game can't handle much AI or vehicles without deleting some things.

In accessibility, H1 tricking is #1. It could handle a whopping 80 AI (provided they weren't firing their guns) and checkpoints were quite easy to get (and handed out in limitless quantity on some levels).

Imo,

Accessibility (convenience) - H1
Scope - H2, as there's a lot more things the levels have to offer
Concept - H2, as there's less limitations and confinements so you could think up something crazy like "I want to fly to space" and you manage it
Rewarding - H1 = H2 (in both games, doing something successfully made one feel accomplished)

I didn't know we were talking about H1. My post was solely based off H2 vs H3.
