Another thing to add: as cliched as is sounds, hate really is a pretty strong word. I mean, think about it. Anybody on here who literally HATES any facet of this site (The Flood included) should, in all honesty, take a good hard look at their priorities in life and consider revising them.
For a website to elicit such a negative emotional reaction from something as impersonal as the existence of a forum other than the one you frequent is absurd at the very least (without even having a maximum level of confusion and ridiculousness due to the outlandishness of said situation).
Given that, I don't think anyone hates The Flood. I don't think most people even comes close to having any sort of negative emotional response towards The Flood. Now, if The Flood killed your childhood dog or slapped your mother in the face, I could understand a level of deeply seeded resentment and, maybe even hate. But The Flood, isn't capable of these things and therefore I think that your assertion (OP) that there are people who hate The Flood as much as you say they do is at least mistaken.
Also, I think you're very much so overestimating the number of people who think that they're "better" than the average floodian. Ignoring the fact that the word "better" could mean an infinite number of things, people could very well think that the Septagon is a more enjoyable place to converse with the Bungie.net community (as in its population, not the forum titled "Bungie.net Community"). They can think its LOADS more enjoyable and that to be confined to just the Flood forum would be a fate worse than death. However, I do not think that anywhere near the amount of people you seem to be inferring, OP, assert a sort of moral and visually/mentally manifested dominance over the people who regular that forum instead of that person's forum of choice (Universe, Septa., Reach, what have you).
I think people just simply dislike visiting the Flood forum and use hyperbole to express that fact.
I personally am almost NEVER serious when I say things like my first quote in the OP (and wasn't at the time). I joke about the Flood because I don't like going there and, quite frankly, it's the thing to do.
The fact that you're getting so worked up about it is, if I may once again speak frankly, more troubling to me than your alleged elitism you're discussing in the OP. (This comparison is, of course, assuming said elitism exists at the level you're saying it does.)
