The Marines & Covenant in Halo 2's Campaign were very smart, but not that smart! I feel in Halo 3 the A.I. can be majorly improved to fight like the military (I dont know how the Covenant fight but still military style) accually does! I hope to see the Marines and Covenant troops take up surpressing fire and flanking tactics in Urbanized or any type of fighting by themselves and take up sniping positions also if they have a sniper rifle, and I hope they drive FASTER and dont crash into rocks and crap like that. Oh but still I hope they do the same crap they do in Halo 2's Campaign stand out in the open. I dont really expect the Flood to do that, their dumb and lets leave it at that! And yes I play too many Military games! But that how combat really is!!!

P.S. These tactics work in Xbox Live, but only in Team Slayer or CTF they can save your butt, and proves to your enemies that you know proper Team work!

The problem is that coding takes huge resources, they do not have time to code for every single senario out there. It would be awsome if somehow the levels had varying enemy spawns. For example, every time you play a level you know where the your enemys are going to be just becase you played it and know their positions. If they could have random tactics/placement that would be cool. However, in Halo 2 they have limited options as to where the hostile forces are to go/come from so major consideration would have to be taken in level design in order to implement such a feature.

As for smarter AI, we saw the redesigned Flood AI in Halo 2 (at least that is what bungie claimed). We most likely will see greater intelligence in both the Humans and Covanent.
