i just listened to some music that is supposed to be in halo 4 and its not bad but its not close to marty o donell's level.when i listen to marty's soundtrack particulary my favorite the odst one, it seems to tell a very deep story all on its own that to me is great music.i do like the halo 4 one but im more looking forward to hear what marty's next project with bungie is.

It doesn't have to be anything like Marty's music. As long as it helps with immersion I'm OK with it.

I agree with OP somewhat. To be fair, I haven't really heard enough to say just yet, but I really disliked the end of the reveal trailer when they played the 8 note halo theme. It didn't have any feeling, and it didn't have a solid note to keep it grounded. It just sounded like a kid who had just figured out how to play it on a keyboard. I'm not expecting much, but I guess we'll see.

It sounded ominous, sombre, and slightly intimidating; imo. It fits perfectly with the direction that Halo 4 seems to be going. Also love the newly released track, too. I think Halo 4's shaping up to have a nice OST, and am looking forward to hearing more.

It sounds -blam!- heroic to me, when I listen to it I imagine exploring halo for the first time. This music tells a lot about Halo 4.

It's actually a lot better than I expected and I'm glad they're not trying to take on Marty's style. Only Marty can do Marty's style and they're right to give this guy freedom to express his. Halo 4 will hopefully be a new direction for the Halo games while keeping what Halo is at heart and this music feels exactly on tune with that.

In short, I am excite.

halo is my all time favourite game and also the fallout series. my best halo is halo 3.

every game will have it's own music.
halo 3's music has the power to automatically put you in a badass mood. while i agree it's not equal in awesomeness as the original halo's, but i do get that badass effect with the halo series and just waiting to hear more of the music they have to offer as they've only done as little as 1-3 songs? :)

Halo 4's music?

Oh, you mean that one song that was in their ViDoc?

  • 03.04.2012 1:35 PM PDT

Show Faith/Defy Fate

I think it was pretty good. Its really hard to tell how good a song is before youve seen the movie or game that it belongs in but I played it over my headset during a match in H3 and it fit to me!

It was ONE SONG, one which they saw fit to put in a vidoc that had more to do with the people making the game than the game itself, therefore probably is one of the less emotional and stirring pieces from the game.

Don't worry. Yet.
