Well.. Depending on how it works. Say if you crash nose down, killing the pilot, yet you weren't going full speed. Then the people in the back could hop out, walk out of the smoke... and probably get completely slaughtered because they have no shields. But it would be so damn awesome!

Well thought out post, but here is what I got out from it:

For all the details and complexity you put in to it, why not:
* Screw the pelican from Halo 3
and
* Include it in the new "Halo: Flight Simulator"

Edit: I'm sorry, many people are missing the humor I was trying to imply by saying this. I apologize for anyone who might have taken this post offensively.

well i started reading in to it it kinda got a little more complex than it needs to be with wind speeds and stuff. However i do like the long start up time and difficult manuverability. I am sure that if Bungie were to make a pelican like plane, they would use some of the things you mentioned to balance it out. But then again its not like the pelican is focused on firepower, its a transport meaning that its only main threat is the people inside it, not the actual pelican. But it is logical that the pelican shouldnt be able to have amazing manuverability.

You ever tried to fly a jet or helicopter in the Battlefield games? It's damn hard, and it ensures that only people who know how to do it can use those deadly vehicles.

I therefore give this idea a thumbs up. By making it to hard to fly, you kind of fix some balance issuse. But, I still think there just shouldn't be a pelican in multiplayer at all.

I'm not going to start a "It was sarcasm" war, so I'll just like to justify myself by re-writing my words (in a way I find less humorous).

It is a great idea, and would be good if implemented in the right way. While I agree with most of your points, I feel that the amount of complexity you put into it would make Halo 3 seem more, well, complex. Almost as complex (and realistic, the reason I like this post) with details and other variables (wind, ect.), as say, a flight simulator might be.

you make a good point

there is no reason however (as Bungie are trying to make the best game they possibly can) that this level of detail shouldn't be included. Not with the main game disc definitly but as a downloadable extra later.

This could be feasible IF(and that is a big if) Bungie decides to put Multiplayer on one disc, and Single Player on another. I guess that would be the only way.

err..........no.....by doubling the discs that would double the price we would have to pay for the game and not even the pelican is worth that! As I say, make it downloadable content later on.

I agree with what you are saying about the level of detail we expect from bungie, but I think that it might take away from the 'First Person Shooter' simplicity of the game.

I really like the Idea, I do think there should be nose cannon on the pelican that can be controlled by the pilot but would be highly inaccurate (like the machine gun on the scorpion in halo:ce). I also like have to press in a button combination to start it up and take several seconds b4 lift off. However, I do think that everything you put into would make it alittle too complicated such as 1st person view and all the buttons and stuff, but overall it is a great idea.

Doubling the discs wouldn't double the price. It would double the storage. Discs cost somewhere around 1-3 cents to create. The price for 360 games then, would be... 70-80 US dollars. (Or 65 Euros) And judging by how many people would buy Halo 3. Meh... I don't think so. Nevermind.

I think that the first person view is essential it would make the Pelican so real. Not just another toy car to push around the map but more like a very big very hard to handle wepaon that you have to use tactically.

After many people have said so I guess the button start up idea was one step too far. Maybe just a delay between entering the pilots seat and take off.

hmmm it is good. but what if the phantom was also put in?... i mean that would change it up a little bit. and it should also have a gun like in the game. were maybe the pilot doesnt use it but the co-pilot does. like the pilot drives and the co-pilot only uses the weapons like the machine gun and/or missiles that were also in the game...

The phantom would be almost impossible to balance properly as it hovers naturally and can drop troops any where plus has loads of fire power etc......

if you want, just say the word, and I'll have a go at workign a way in which the phantom could fit feasably into multiplayer but you will not get and answer until tommorow as I am in England and it is almost 1 am over here.

The co-pilot idea is interesting and I suppose he could take the controles in the event of the pilot getting shot if te windscreen is bown up.

The life and world you see is just a cheery toped and sugar coated version. You know nothing of Hell. Unknown to you and everyone around you is that there is a war going on that you can't see. Now that you know, you are part of it. And if you are going to survive, your going to need to learn to pull the trigger.

i was thinking along the lines of...

once the pilot gets in, he can't just "bail out." in order for the pilot to get out, he has land first.

but the passengers...

they can "hot drop" out. like the pelican has to be going below a certain speed, and flying below a certain altitude. I don't like the idea of having to stop completely. I would like to see the pelican hovering 50 feet above the ground and players rapelling out.

wouldnt flying the pelican make it incredibly easy to transport a flag carrier in a CTF game, all you would have to do is turret down all the ground forces and land it by the base send your whole teamm in the base to guard the carrier and score so easily

There's a way to send your ideas to Bungie through E-mail. I don't know exactly how, but everyone has an E-mail acount these days. you just have to find it.

hmmm well i think the pelican would be a coll element in the h3 game but u would need to have maybe two varaints like a at(anti-tank) and a ap(anti-personal) or transport that would be sweet like the transport has a turret with a like br ammo and low rate of fire and the at has a 50 cal chain gun or something like that and twomissle pods wih like 2 missles each. i think that would be sweet. just my thinkin

If you haven't actually flown one yet, download a map with one on it for Halo PC custom edition. You need to be able to see when you fly those things. Another thing maps wouldn't really need to be made larger, they would just need more airspace.

Aye I agree to that airspace is needed maybe a spacebattle lol i dunno just thinking again and im going ot check this ce halo out soon with the peli and all
