Subject: An Idea (Far Fetched But Still Interesting) Brutes Inherit the Mantle

Okay so I may have read into this wrong, but from my understanding, in halo primordium, it turned out that the humans had infact not invented a cure to the flood, but the precursors just decided that the humans were the new inheritors of the mantel, so they had the flood stop infecting them.

Now, in halo 1-3, the flood does infect people. This has lead me to believe that the precursors for whatever reason had found the humans once again unworthy of inherriting the mantel. I believe that they may have created a third species, similar to both humans and forerunners, but much stronger, and more obedient; The Brutes.

It's far fetched I know, but I think it would make a good plot twist. Thoughts?

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Not to mention, Forerunners are probably stronger....seeing how, well, they are 4 meters tall...

Maybe the precurs don't decide the new inherritors until after the war?

It was not that the Humans did not invent the cure; it is that there is no cure to invent. The Flood can choose who to infect, and so chose to stop infecting Humanity. This is probably when the Precursor took notice of Humanity and considered the possibility of it being worthy to carry the Mantle in how it dealt with the problem. Ancient Humanity, that is. The UNSC ain't worth a toss. It would not surprise me if modern day Humanity has had its title stripped from it just like the Forerunners.

Although the Brutes seem to be quite an arbitrary choice. Why choose them over the Elites or some other race in the Galaxy? I doubt any of the Covenant races would get it after their war with Humanity.

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

The Sith should inherit the Mantle and ruuuuule the galaxy.

Because the Flood are really the good guys.

Meh all this Primordium stuff hurts my brain. Why did there have to be an ancient humanity that had so much influence in the universe? Would much prefer that the Librarian saw potential in a young humanity on ancient earth and infused them with genetic markers so that they could reclaim the lost Forerunner empire after the Halo activation, instead we get this crazy convoluted plot.

It probably does not fit with 343i's petty world view. They replaced a story in which a race of, what we were lead to believe, near perfect beings saw potential in Humanity to the extent where they gave Humanity everything, reflecting Humanity's potential to become like them; to overcome its problems, its rivalries and its shortsightedness. What did they replace it with? The concept of Humans 100'000 years ago being xenophobic "purists", warmongerors, arrogant and still ridden with internal strife just like today. The essential message being that Humans will never change. What a nasty little theme, don't you think?
