I've been here for a year, not much, but it feels like I've been here for ages. I've seen the site change its whole presentation and I think this is a really awesome website. Long term, I have no idea...

This pretty much sums it up.

Yep, that's exactly how the "old days" were on here.

Especially the ninjas.

If you mean back when I was more active and before Bungie went dark, very fun and lively place, I can't speak for the older people, but when I was around, it was fun.

Back in my day, people thought Isolation was the worst thing that could ever happen to Halo.

I remember on of my first threads, and my first to be a hot topic, was one about ideas on how to improve the map. I never hated it though.

On Topic Reply - Th old days were full of rage on the game-specific forums. But there was always that consistent and fairly lean spread of enjoyable threads, mostly full of that link I posted at the top of the page.
I couldn't say what the community forum was like back then as I rarely ventured on it. It appeared to be significantly more mature than it is now so I kept my distance :D
correlation much?

The old days were young.

Also, I wouldn't know much about them.

It's quite fun to do that, remaster maps in a personally-better way.

I took Pinnacle in Halo Reach, threw it into forge and rewired it to eliminate spawn killing, offer more cover but maintain the speed of the game. Didn't take me 5 minutes and I got several seals of approval from friends and a positive custom game test result.

Sorry Bungie :D But that map was baaaad. Too little cover, too many odd surfaces, too few areas and spawns, too easy to spawn-trap. Though I like what they did with V2 of Hemorrhage and The Cage. Proves they do know how to make a map / fix bad maps.

Please stay on topic.

I wouldnt consider myself that old, but the months running up to a new release are always fun.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

It hasnt changed much. You got your trolls, your forum cops, your suck ups, your fan boy, inconsistent moderation, and a few others. The only thing that has changed is the website itself.

Be nice to noobs..Remember even MLG players were noobs at one point.

I've been around these parts since May of '06. Man that was back when the site still had the light blue Halo 2 layout, back before there was a whiff of Halo 3 if I remember correctly. The forums were a lot more pleasant back then, you could get in touch with a mod fairly quickly if you needed to, threads were rarely as off topic as they are now with the trolling and flaming. Members were actually friendly back then and I remember trading PM's with other members all of the time back then. Threads even had sustenance back then, not just random bull that only serves to incite -blam!-.

The old days were great...I witnessed 2 or 3 major site changes in my time...Loved every single one of them. Even with all of the problems that this board has, it is still my favorite board to visit.

[EDIT] Oh and fortunately for us all the Flood has not changed a single bit since back then.
