Man of God. Fan of Bungie. Eater of many Jr. Bacon cheeseburgers.

Excellent theory. I'll be showing this to my fellow Bungie fan colleagues.

My future is certain, I will one day fly away. All because I am saved from the penalty of sin. I know he lives.

Very interesting. You really have something going. I didn't read entirely your other post, but will do so soon or later. Also, i was just thinking about the parrallel to Master Chief, how he made friends with his enemys. Chief did that with the covenant, so would that make the Covenant like charlamange (sp).

You really have a lot of free time on your hands. Hope you used this in some kind of creative writing project in school or something.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

That is bloody clever! I hope your right!

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious"

Great work!

So, am I completely off my mind if I were to guess that Bungie's new IP has 75% Marathon related?

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

I still don't understand this thread.

Speculation and predictions on the themes, motifs, characters, etc. in Bungie's next game, Destiny. We are basing this stuff off of a previous pattern by Bungie of borrowing from mythology for names and other parallels.

quod te non occidit, te fortiorem faciet

So that means that there's a possible IP (after the Destiny era) in which we'll see Mjolnir Recon number 54, the Chief and the yet unknown Destiny protagonist fighting side by side.

he fought alongside Ogier the Dane and Count Roland during the battle of Roncesvalles, where he experienced the worst military defeat of his life.

The Joyeuse IP Formula

No, not really.
Legally, it can't be done.

And in the realm of this theory, it doesn't have to be done. You can have characters in a game that personify a character from another IP.

Take for instance, how the Chief (Ogier) agreed to team up with the Arbiter (Charlemagne). There was no cross-ip leaping needing. All Bungie had to do was make a character that reflected someone in Ogier's life.

meh...

joyeuse = joyful, which is what we want our destinies to be, that's a connection.
clearly destiny will be about ruling some sort of empire and being at war.

  • 08.10.2012 10:36 AM PDT

meh...

that's true, arbiter was charlemagne. he killed off many of the humans, and wielded a sword. Destiny may not even be related to charlemagne and his sword.

My name is Mark Mezzetta and I was a beta tester for Bungie's game Oni and Take Two's game Myth 3: The Wolf Age.

This is all very plausible since Jason Jones, Robt McLees, and Joe Staten are all a part of the story team for their next game. Some old quotes that may put smiles on your faces if interested in this stuff:

"If you look back to the Marathon days, there's always been a strong interest in the idea of artificial intelligence. When we began to look at Halo, we certainly wanted to carry that idea forward. There was a clear correlation and relationship between the Marathon and Halo universes -- they were different, but the idea of an AI was really compelling. So Cortana began as one of those early sparks for the whole Halo universe. The idea that she could speak to players long before we revealed what this universe was about was really interesting to us, especially because we were trying to talk to our old fanbase and get them excited about our next big thing. That was the idea behind the Cortana Letters."
-Joe Staten

"I'll say this: Observant fans of our games will note that certain themes tend to run through our games. For example, the sword Durandal (from the "Song of Roland") first appears in Minotaur as a magic sword and goes on to become a central character in Marathon. There are many other examples of common themes running through our games."
-Jason Jones

Do you have dates for these quotes?

And Robt McLees is no longer part of Bungie, but Lorraine remains there. To my knowledge, Staten and Jones are still there, but I don't know if Jones has much of a hand in the plot.

I honestly hope he does.

My name is Mark Mezzetta and I was a beta tester for Bungie's game Oni and Take Two's game Myth 3: The Wolf Age.

The Staten quote was from a Halo universe article published by IGN when Reach was released. The Jones quote goes back to the early days when Halo 1 was being developed.

Jason and Robt broke away from the Halo team after the release of Halo 2, most likely to create this new universe, so they would have a hand in the story more so than any one else.

BTW, how do you know Robt is no longer with Bungie? Back in April, he was still with the group as he was a part of the mail sack. Is it have to do with him taking off his b.net profile?
