Some have theorized that the final screen not only congratulates the player, but cryptically sends them off to the next game universe.
Woah...
.. does not to begin to describe the level of mind blowing going on right hurr.

HEYO! Thats a hell of a segue.

I couldn't help but laugh. It's so forcefully fanmade that it hurts. The comments make me cringe.

(Yes, it was posted in July 2011, before this particular thread, but Joey's original original thread was posted back in '10, so lol.)

There are forces in motion we cannot comprehend, all we can do is embrace Bungie...(Brain washed x_X)

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I was reading the universe forum and apparently someone said Destiny had a lot of themes from this book:

link

The story talks about a "golden age of mankind, an alien protector, etc"

"Without warning, giant silver ships from deep space appear in the skies above every major city on Earth. Manned by the Overlords, in fifty years, they eliminate ignorance, disease, and poverty. Then this golden age ends--and then the age of Mankind begins...."

Might be some of Bungie's inspiration like ringword was for Halo.

Perhaps it's got a bit of Rendezvous with Rama.

"Set in the 22nd century, the story involves a 50-kilometre (31 mi) cylindrical alien starship that enters Earth's solar system. The story is told from the point of view of a group of human explorers, who intercept the ship in an attempt to unlock its mysteries." ... always in three..

I was surprised not to see Destiny at the VGA's. However, considering how ambitious Bungie seems with this project, I'd wager they didn't want it just getting smashed in with the other VGA reveals.

I think we'll get our first trailer early next year, and Destiny will probably be a get a GameInformer article with a huge blowout of details. My guess is February!

Cortana 5 is a carbon-based lifeform that frequently visits these forums, currently residing in the United States. Practically every male on the site responds to her posts.

The Joyeuse IP Formula

There's quite a handful of books that have ringworlds in them, Consider Phlebas, being one. I'll have to look into stuff that looks like the Traveler... then cross-reference that with Charlemagne.

Looks like I've got some reading to do. Thanks!

To be honest, it's really hard to be honest and original this days, no matter how hard you work to make your project as unique as possible, you'll find out that someone else did something similar already, even if you didn't know about that.

My name is Mark Mezzetta and I was a beta tester for Bungie's game Oni and Take Two's game Myth 3: The Wolf Age.

Your in luck then, because I've been compiling a list of stories and books that people say might have an influence to background of the next game. Here it is:

*Childhood's End
*Guardian Angel
*Rendezvous with Rama
*The City and the Stars
*The Sentinel
*Mutineer's Moon
*Eon
*Chilam Balam

I know of another one that should be on that list, but i feel it hits too close to home. I want to hear it from Bungie, I don't want to sneak into the closet and peak at the unwrapped presents. Do you?
