MMOFPSRPGRTS... in space.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen such comments yet. The previous thread was full of, "SO DOES THIS MEAN THAT I CAN HAZ SPACE MMORPGFPSWTF?!"

No. This is how you make me feel.

So ... it's an MMOFPS?

Sounds like a reasonable conclusion to me...

I like the effort but I think this is way to much in depth speculation for something so vague and broad as what their IP might be. I commend the painstaking analysis. Should this lean more toward lore than what the future may hold? I find this a great piece of lore more than anything.

Tin shacks and catfish bones.

I commend you on your efforts, but isn't the mystery what drives this? Wouldn't it be ruined if you "figured it out"? What is unknown should remain so until the right time (regarding Destiny).

I read it all, enjoyed it, and appreciate your efforts. Thank you for sharing.

To be honest, I don't think any developer is smart/caring enough to have a formula for what they are doing years into the future(aside from game dev timelines).

I think Destiny is going to be something none of us expect (at least most of it being unpredictable.) It seems like a lot of posters are making mountains out of molehills and frankly grasping at straws to try and glimpse Destiny. And it's a great goal, to be sure (I wish I had the dedication to put something like this together!). But imho, all this specal-uatin' is pretty pointless until we see more. That said, it was a good read/will be nice to ponder, Siffy. Maybe you're right and I'm just a pessimist.

Let's say, just in example, that I did get this right. Where could I possibly go from there?

I would not know which specific parts about Joyeuse and Charlemagne would matter in the game, and Bungie could take any piece of their lore and run with it.

So, if it makes any sense, I could have this right, but I would still have nothing to really go on. I wouldn't know what happens until the information is given to the masses.

But I'm not one to just sit and wait in the dark and I think that it would be sheepish of me to do so.

I would argue that you shouldn't underestimate the creative power of this industry.

But I don't think that this is something that was set in stone from the start. I'm thinking that the guys working on Marathon stumbled upon this concept when writing for Durandal's character. During Halo, they may have gone with it because they needed something to help guide character development.

Essentially, I don't think that this was a highly organized conspiracy from the start, let alone from Halo development. Besides, it would be silly to turn something into your franchise Bible for the sake of novelty. But I do have faith that this formula (specifically, the Charlemagne part) is flexible enough to be utilized in a new game.

This isn't Faceboooooooook!!!

Seriously though... I hope it is something none of us expect. Then again, that would kind of bite, seeing as how much time and effort they put into making all of this.

Is it weird to say I feel at home in this thread???

I regularly scour the web for hints/rumors/announcements, knowing full well I will find nothing of substance 95% of the time. When I do find something, I drool over it and act with the excitement of a 12 year old. Heck, I watched the "Brave New World" Vidoc for the third time the other night when I couldn't sleep.

Nice to find a place where people are as excited as I am to see what Bungie has in store for us.

Like I said, I'm here to provide you all a flicker of hope about the new IP. The site and community are a little dark right now, with the studio being pitch black. Weather through it!

Something I don't believe that's been touched on since I first mentioned it was the idea that Bungie tells stories of their one Hero's soul.

Each protagonist in Pathways, Marathon, Halo and (I believe) Destiny are the same soul reincarnated.

"Oddly, this is familiar to you, as if it were from an old dream, but you can't exactly remember..."

This is a quote from Marathon's manual (and is on the banner for the Universe forum). I think it summarizes my thoughts on Bungie's formula perfectly.

I believe this all started in Pathways, and I believe Jason Jones is the mastermind behind it.

I believe that canonically PoD and Marathon are in the same universe. But I'm not sure what to think of the soul part of this whole thing with the little information I have on it.

If I recall correctly, we've got a few guys from FASA (rhymes with NASA) who worked on Shadowrun. That was a cross-platform game, no?

Let's see if Derek and Sage have something up their sleeves... or beards.

Yeah, I totally broke my rule of "this is not a genre thread" but you reminded me of the Shadowrun devs now as Bungie.

Dear Lord, that's depressing. A soul that keeps fighting for epic profit... I mean...

This does go back to a little piece I read on Marathon Infinity's ending. You escape the Marathon universe to get to the next universe.
