If I wanted to play Halo: 3 maps then I would play Halo: 3.

No need for remakes when the game is still alive.

Probably one of the dumbest statements I've ever read.

sucks I cant download stuff via file share or file browser now (4gb slim)
From the slide show and description this looks like the best remake I have seen. I like when people put pride in their work and have good craftsmanship!

the 4gb slim is considered a MU not HD so I cant view recent games, or even see my own file share I made from last 360. I cant even go into theater.
I forwarded this to a friend and he download it. We played 1v1 custom earlier...

THIS IS THE BEST REMAKE

thanks so much!

keep enjoying it, and leaving comments.
If anyone has map requests let me know and i will maybe put up a poll to see which map wins the next remake.

Also check some of my other map ideas in my fileshare.
Some need specific settings and i dont have a bungie pro account yet, so i cannot upload the game types.

Descriptions -

1st person pacman (gametype included) -
This is an infection map which uses a reconstruction of the legendary pacman maze. Up to 15 people are blue ghosts who must run from pacman (gold) when ghosts are caught, they become pacmen too and join the fight. The last man standing becomes a pink ghost wins 5 points and is invincible, he then has the remaining time to score points by killing the pacmen.

Bouncy 2.0 -
This is a chaotic siesta or rocket FFA map.
The base of the level is all gravity lifts which bounce everyone up and down as they try to kill each other, to add to the mayhem ojects and vehicles keep spawning which also bounce up and down with all the players and corpses.
You need to set the gametype to 3 mins! and put kills nice and high, fast respawns and bottomless clips help, so does starting with 4 sticky grenades.

Welcome aboard -
A one flag map which is suitable for 16 players.
You fight aboard a military frigate which has a bridge, cantina, engine room, brig, armory, vehicle bay, store room and more.
The power weapons are mostly hidden so examine the map and make people aware of their positions in order to make the matches fair.

Customary -
Just a map i threw together to increase my DMR skill in customs.
Its a symmetrical arena map for up to 16 players (works fine still with 3v3) which minimises power weapon play. Only 2 snipers and neautral rocket are on the field, all with low ammo. So there is a need to work on weapon control, but it wont be a game where everyone is dominating with OP weapons.
It plays really nice, has decent use of chokes and grenade play (something most reach maps really lack).
Use whatever settings you feel are best (its rvb spawns).

Did you change speed and gravity?
That doesn't help when the places you're meant to be able to jump up to aren't there.

I am so sorry i didn't put in the glitch jumps from the original.
Would you accept $200 via paypal for the stress and dissatisfaction my free map remake has brought to you?

TOUGH...DEAL WITH IT!

I though about this long and hard as i made the map because they were after all glitches. Putting them in using ledges (just enough to get a foothold) doesn't recreate the original jumps, it just makes places anyone can abuse.
I tested it, i tried different approaches but in the end i decided to leave them out, and waste $250 on juicy effect.

There is simply no difficulty in doing gold jump if you put a column poking out there for everyone to use, everyone just uses the column and sits there half way up killing people in top gold perched on a ledge half in cover.

Ive had to explain this so many times to people who consider themselves purists but are pretty much just ungrateful or trying to troll my effort. These jumps are all ghost jumps, they are to do with glitches in the original geometry giving you a temporary minor foothold on an otherwise sheer vertical surface. You can easily enjoy 99% of the experience without all these jumps, but...if you have to have them try this clever idea i thought of:

-DELETE JUICY (Y BUTTON!)
-GET $250 REFUND
-PUT THEM IN YOURSELF (OR PAY AN EXPERT TO DO IT FOR YOU)

Then you can find out how much they suck and how easy it is for a newb to gold jump flawlessly, or s1 ramp>s2 ramp jump effortlessly everytime. If you can balance that or tolerate it then good for you, edit it and call it 'digi can suck it' and upload it for people to share.

We all know that those jumps have a huge failure rate and require a lot of practice to perfect, i rarely ever saw people use them and i played with a bunch of 50s in H3 that won games with aim and skill and not trick jumps. So they were never necessary back then, and the means of recreating them doesn't exist now in a balanced way.

That doesn't help when the places you're meant to be able to jump up to aren't there.

How were you 'meant' to jump?? Bungie put a lift in gold for a reason, you weren't meant to jump up through the holes. Are you telling me they designed all the ghost jumps from inception? People were finding weird jumps for years, it wasn't by design it was by error.

To be honest, I was going to come in here and say something smart, like "'Oh but there aren't trees" but then I changed my mind.

Totally impressed. Nice work.

When it's described as "perfect remake" I expect the geometry to be the same, not with ledges purposely left out.

Your main point seems to be with sitting halfway between Gold 1 and 2 but you could do that in H3 anyway.

As for the other jumps which you've left out, they just add to the flow of the map. I don't care who can pull them off or not.

You, sir, are a bum. I have made an inch perfect, all inclusive version of....quarter of Guardian.
Thanks to the 10k budget limit, it is impossible to include every exact similarity to the map. I did H3/HReach wall size ratios, made everything exactly the same, included all of the glitches, jumps, hiding places, lighting effects, the lot. And when I hit $0, i'd finished Gold 1&2, the blue room, and the shotty spawn =P

Also, Digi is right. If you were matchmaking online, you'd be shooting, running, dodging and dying. You wouldn't be spending ages trying to successfully pull off the gold room jump, or risking 1 point to do the plasma battery jump. If you ever did that it would be on forge or custom games in Halo 3. This map has been re-made for playing on. It hasn't been re-made to be scouted out for glitches and jumps. Like Digi said; make your own version if you want that. See how pointless and difficult it is.

this is a fantastic effort with as close to the real thing as the budget will allow. Massive congratulations =)

Thanks for the comments and support.

Sorry i had to put someone down, but its not like i haven't explained it 3-4 times already in the thread and someone brings it up again just so they can be judgemental.

Im not trying to please everyone, and if theres 1 bit any of you hate then you have the power to fix it. I did the hard work for you, just use your own initiative and fix the stuff you don't like. If you don't like the map anyway, or you expect literally identical geometry and glitches you are the root of your own disappointment.

Anyway keep sharing the map and giving me your honest views, i don't mind negative feedback and critiques but don't act like you cannot even begin to fathom a guardian without your sacred jumps which you no doubt fail 95% of the time. We all know you guys waste half the game wall humping, and plummeting to your death whilst the team you are so desperate to impress has to carry your fat negative 8 ass through another plasma battery suicide master class.

I downloaded the map when you first posted this thread. I played the map and was very impressed but found a few things different (Not good or bad, just different)

I'm sure they've been brought up, but I honestly can't be bothered to go through and read all the comments. If these have been mentioned, I apologize. Just ignore this post and move on to the next.

I think the camo is a bit off. If I remember correctly you used to be able to just walk up to the ledge and get it. I found myself jumping onto the ledge to get it in your remake.

There was a spot where F lift dropped you off where you could kind of hide in a corner. Right where the lift takes you to top mid.

There was a ledge behind S1/S2 where you could grenade jump to and do practically nothing while you're sitting up there. Not a practical place to be, but still fun.

Overall the remake you have here is amazing. I absolutely love it. I'm not going to ask you to look into these small things as I don't think its your responsibility. Besides, I'm a big boy. I can fix it myself if need be.

Solid 9.5/10 from me.
Great job!

EDIT: And of course the G1-G2 jump. But I can obviously see why it can't be recreated, and any attempt to do so would result in people sitting halfway between G1 and G2. It wasn't practical anyway.

Once again. Amazing remake!
