A question i have to ask is what intellectual property does Bungie have?

Considering they worked for Microsoft, i have heard microsoft likes to own all the intellectual property of those who work for them.

This means all halo related intellectual property are under microsoft unless the deal in which they seperated on specifies other wise.

Now if microsoft still owns it and bungie does not, this points to Bungie making a whole new engine and new codes for their new and upcoming game. As most of the codes that were created were under Microsoft and may still be under their license, the exception being those in the public domain.

Bungie has all of the trademarks liste on their trademarks page, plus any related to Aerospace or Destiny. Bungie owns their new IP and everything created for it. Remember that Bungie and Microsoft split in 2007 after Halo 3, and the ODST and Reach were made under contract, not while they were the same company.

I thought by releasing the code for Marathon they made it public property, and I thought some other company took the rights to myth.

Not trademark but codes.

Each new code or equation that is made for a problem can be considered as a new IP as far as i know, i was in computer science and our teacher told us this. That everything you make is now considered an IP. Every function they make for a problem is now a new IP. So how they built the driving system is now Microsoft unless Microsoft actually allowed them to still own it.

That was the point of the second part of my post. Everything non-halo related that they did since 2007 was made while they were an independent company and therefore belongs to Bungie.
