Uh-huh. So restrict (in some instances) more than 40,000 people because one person posted a link to meatspin, or twenty people were involved in some spam attack?1. Large organisations such as Universities do not use a single IPv4 address for Internet connectivity.
2. Even if 40000 users were using the same outside global address, how many of them would be using Bungie.net, how many would be using the forums, and how many would be trying to post?
But why risk those who do use the same IP address, use Bungie.net, and do post, when they themselves are not involved with a user who has the same IP and gets banned? I guess my post had some hyperbole, but people at places like universities can share an IP and have nothing to do with each other, as well as use the same primary sites. But then all are effected when one of them does something which gives them restricted access, due to an IP ban.
