If you've watched any of the new clips from E3 you can notice that there is a new HUD system. Instead of having a meter for shields and vitality you will now notice there’s only one for shields, so say good-bye to med kits.

If all you’re going to do is complain about people complaining then just get up and leave. If you can provide what you think are some good pros and cons on the subject then go right ahead and post them.

I personally think that having shields only is a bad idea (no offense Bungie). In Halo 1 you could take away some of an opponent's vitality knowing that you might stand a chance against him/her next time (assuming they are much better than you). But now assume there is no longer a vitality bar and all you got are shields. Now this person who is much better than you is going to demolish you every time since the shields can recharge. At least you have the possibility of putting up a good fight with the Halo 1 system of health.

If I'm somehow wrong about this whole health system just tell me and I'll change the topic or something.

"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." Albert Einstein
"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." Gandhi

I think we don't know how the new system works. It's hard to have an opinion on something people are only speculating about.

I Think Its A Bad Idea...I Dont Like The Idea Of Having Only Sheilds To Protect Me Because Once They Have Depleated, Your Dead If You Dont Find Cover. I Think They Should Have The Sprinting Feature To Compansate It.

Yea, some kind of compensation might be necessary, if the health packs are indeed gone.
A heartier shield, or more checkpoints in single player.
Facing down a group of elites on Legendary, without much cover, won't be much fun without a decent amouth of checkpoints.
If they can balance it out, I'd actually rather not have health. 'Running the Map' for powerups, healthpacks, or spawning weapons is a stale FPS mp mechanic.

I believe there is a health bar. If you take a closer look at the HUD, you can notice that the sheild bar only goes so far, and then there is something else there. I believe THAT is your health.

I was also against it at first, but after thinking about it, i think its quite good really

Pros (In my opinion)

1) If any of you have ever been fighting someone, when all of a sudden a team comes into the fight kills your opponent leaving you with no score and low health then leaving you alone again. You'll realise that usually the next fight you get into you'll lose as you have a serious handicap in health. But with the new shield/health system, your health will regenerate back to full after each fight.

2)No more squabbles for the pathetic ammount of medi packs on a level, now everyone has full health as long as they hide for a few seconds.

3)More realistic, in the halo books and in real life getting shot in the head kills you. In halo CE getting shot in the head by say an assault rifle wouldnt kill you even if you had no shield. But in halo 2 your shield is you health, as your shield gets shot more it gets weaker, and bullets start getting through to you, untill the enemy drops you shield, you get shot no shield to protect you, bam your dead. More realistic.

4)Faster games, i believe this will make the game faster. From watching the videos, there always seems to be a battle going on and its only 4 vs 4. I noticed on the old halo, if you had a 4 vs 4 and you liked attacking, you were usually alone for quite a while, with the odd fight here and there. But halo 2 looks like its going to have some really big battles even with 8 players. I think the new health system, creates a faste paced game.

5) The same pro everyone has made about all the other changes - Trust in bungie. All the ign reporters and gamespy, and the people from fanfest, all say it was great. But none of you have played,, of course i havent either, but you could put some faith in the opinions of people who liked the old halo and had a chance to play halo 2 and liked that more.

Cons (In my opinion, which is hard as i like the idea)

1) What will happen to the plasma pistol, the only reason i used it was to drop shields, but now? If bungie makes it so that you can drop shields then one hit kills with any gun, it will be too powerfull? But what else could it possibly do, its pimary fire waas overshadowed by the plasma rifle. I hope bungie thinks of a way to put plasma pistol in.

well actually bungie has said nothing about this yet so really you are all just guessing from pictures you have seen. and also remember this still an unfinished game perhaps they havent even decided what the health bar should look like or just havent added it yet

I think the health bar is still there, anyone who has played it can tell me im wrong and ill believe them but..... if you look the shield bar goes down and at the end there is a cirular thing, i reckon that is your health and after your shield is gone, the circle starts to go down, as you health..... if you've played it ill believe whatever you say.... thats my though

Yeah. How can everybody have pros and cons when basically nothing has been revelaed except for the video?

You guys ought to hold your lips unless you have played it. Anybody? Anybody? or they release actual info or you work on the game.

In the demo it looked like dual wielding took down the elite in about the right time. So who cares?

Bungie is not so stupid as to mess something up like health bar. You guys have got to relax, don't like it, don't play it. Unless you work for bungie, or have played the game, we are all just speculating and that usually amounts to somebody being dead wrong. All i have seen is the demonstartion and the 20 second clip of footag and it looked like the game played well.

Maybe the sheilds regenerate alot faster now so you wouldnt have hide bhind a wall for 10 seconds and let the other team get away with the flag

i think you definately need a health bar other wise what happens when your shields deplete?
do you just die instantly? that would be crap

you need at least some kind of health bar otherwise it would be impossible to do campain on legendary. as i am sure many are aware you lost your shield pretty rapidly even against a couple of elites and against a jackle! it would ruin the whole game and bungie would not screw up the sequal to the best selling Xbox game of all time!

Think about, if bungie have removed the health bar, there not going to use the shields from the old halo. They will have made the shield stronger and regenerate faster.
Watch the 20 second video from ign, you'll notice an elite try and grab the flag then got shot by a guy with an smg, the elite dies pretty quickly. And the elite on the 8 minute video, the one that gets shot by needler and smg, forgive me if i am incorrect, but i dont think you see its shield burst as you would in the old halo.
